McDaniel/McDannell/McDonald was born about 1790 in Pendleton Co., SC and married Elizabeth Gresham (b 1791, Pendleton Co., SC), daughter of John Gresham (b 1761 VA) and Martha Halbert (b 1772 VA). Martha is the daughter of William Anson Halbert Sr. (b 1744 Essex Co. VA) and Elizabeth Hill (b 1747 VA) On James McDaniel, I have the following info: "- 28 Dec. 1819. Pendleton District SC. Joseph Barron of Pendleton District to Philemon Partain of same, for $300, 300 acres in Pendleton District on both sides of Corn House Creek, branch of Little River, bounded by James McDaniel, Stephen Merritt, John Collins, and ___Howard; it being the the same lands I bought from Solomon Palmore by deed dated 14 July 1813.
