    3. I am looking for information on the settlement of the estate (1844) of John Thomas Scott (b. 1787 VA or SC, d. c. 1844 Jonesville, Union Co., SC) and either of his wives (unknown and Jemima Smith) and the ancestry of Miles C. Puckett (b. 1813 SC d. after 1903 GA) m. (1) Martha June Scott and (2) Nancy Scott, two daughters of John Thomas Scott. Excerpts from what I know.... "Thomas Scott was of English descent. He arrived here [SC] from Virginia in the early 1800's. He owned slaves and farmed a plantation between Jonesville, SC and Union, SC. He was married twice. The name of his first wife is unknown. This wife bore two children, Lee Scott and Martha June Scott." "John Thomas Scott was a substitute for James W. Darby in South Carolina in the War of 1812." "Probate Court Records, filed in Union Co., SC by Charles Wesley Scott (Plantiff) on 16 Sep 1871: Miles Puckett and his wife, Nancy Caroline [Scott] were residing in Woodstock, Cherokee Co., GA...other Puckett's listed as defendants in this affidavit were: William (N. J.?) Puckett, Mabel Huntington Puckett. (Was this a suit for settlement of the estate of John Thomas Scott?)" Any info on these people would be appreciated.
