Who applied under the Act of June 7 1832. States he served under General Richardson in the company of Captain Edward Lacey, Lt Charles Miles, Ensign Patric McGri [sic] McGriff, - he entered service in his immediate neighborhood on Turkey Creek on a branch of Broad river in the District called Chester South Carolina, now, under above officers and marched to Rice Creek �in a district now called Richland district, about 60 miles from place of departure. And marched to NINETY-SIX but before we reached there, we learned that the Tories had abandoned that place , and had gone into the Cane Brakes and had gone on the waters of I_____ where we pursued them and took about 32 prisoners. And about 1776 he was out under Col Thomas Neill against the Cherokee Indians, ; that Major Polk was in command- he went to Keowee and burnt a town called Sugar town and another called Eastatoa and cut down some corn? �burnt sever [sic] several other towns. Much other service is outlined, (very dim and illegible). One of his Generals was ! John Adair whom afterwards became Governor of Kentucky. Nancy Brown also filed declaration in Green Co Alabama 1850 April 10, states she was born in Chester District South Carolina 1781, that she was married to Hamilton Brown who recd. A pension as a revolutionary soldier on Xmas day 1798 that they were married by Col Joseph Brown, of Chester Dist S C; that she lived with him for 14 or 15 years, that they removed to Pendleton District S C and lived a number of years, then moved to Green Co Alabama, ; that Hamilton Brown died near Eutaw Green Co 1843. She was married 4 years before her first child Betsy was born and Alexander was born about 4 years after Betsy, and 3 years between Alexander and James her next son. Betsy was born at end of year 1802, Alexander 1806, AFFIDAVIT OF CATHERINE KEATON step dau of this widow and lived with her father & sep mother Nancy until she was married herself.
