My major interests in Old 96 are these: Briggs, Wright, Wofford, Thomson, Roebuck, Vice Mickey Mildred "Mickey" Fournier PO Box 1967, Lake City, FL 32056 mailto:mfournier@atlantic.net
I am particularly interested in any and all information on Abram (Abram) Holsomback (variant spellings) He and his wife Jean/Joan obtained their first land grant of 400 acres in 1772 and another 400 acres in 1774 and sold several parcels of that land in various years. He had sons John and Derrick who also had land holdings in the Edgefield district. I believe he died after 1812. He last appeared in the 1810 census of Edgefield. I have been unable to find a death record or will for him, I have not found any church or bible records for him either. Jean obtained a parcel of land in her name in the district after 1812 which leads me to believe that husband Abram/Abraham died during the period 1810 to 1812. I have calculate that he was born around 1740 and I don't know where he was born. He was of German descent and may have been a Palatine, and he may have been from PA. Joyce, I am looking for any information about Jane Cannon, born abt 1788 in SC and married to Charles Harris 24 Dec 1807 in Pendleton District. One researcher said her father was Richard Cannon, but so far I can neither confirm nor refute the assertion. Do you have anything that would help, or know anything about Jane's siblings? Thank you. Hello, I am researching CHILDRESS / CHILDERS / CHILDRES and WARD between 1790 and 1810. I believe they were in ABBEVILLE. Thanks, Bill Childress mailto:bchildress10@comcast.net
Family folklore says: Susie A. STEPHENS m. James Henry GOODRUM before 1874. Who are her parents? Melvina LOLLIS mentioned as wife of Jim BARKLEY before 1842. Who are her parents? I would appreciate any information about these surnames? Thank youl. Wandawoman@sc.rr.com
I have just recently joined this list (just in time for the Roll Call) and I would like to introduce myself and post the family that I am researching. I am trying to determine if James Huggins (b. circa 1812 in No or So Carolina and d. 1862 in Page Co, IA) is connected to the Huggins family from the Old 96 area. I have information about a David Huggins and wife, Susannah, and his brother, Robert and their sister, Mary Jane Huggins Lively and her husband, John Lively, from the Craven District who all migrated to what is now Washington Co, IL around 1800. My James shows up in that area prior to 1840 when he married Mary (Margaret) Buckinghaus (Buckingham). Later the family moved on to Page County, IA. If anyone on the list is working on the Huggins family or can suggest how I might learn more about them, I would appreciate hearing from them. Mary F Kelley email address: mfk@valink.com
