    3. Dear Mrs. Childers: You may want to check out my article "South Carolina Reports of Free Schools For Anderson and Pendleton Districts 1825-1836" in The Carolina Herald and Newsletter, Volume XXVII, June 1999, No. 2, pages 51-54. Photocopies of the Free School reports and additional historical information may be available to the public at the Anderson County Museum when it opens in early January 2003. This material has been donated by me to the museum. The limited material includes the South Carolina Acts of Assembly to establish the free schools and names the districts (if memory serves me correctly at this time). I hasten to add .... I am a genealogists who has learned about South Carolina history in a very limited way. My home is in Alabama ! My maternal roots take me back to the Pendleton District ca1790s. However, my Leveretts were outstanding educators of Anderson in the 1830s-50s. Wesley, Stephen and Chesley (my gr gr gr grandfather). Hope this will provide you and your class with a few clues to the early schools in your area. I will be glad to email you a copy if you do not locate the publication. Sincerely, Charlotte Tucker Tuscaloosa, Alabama
