Hi, I'm new to the list, and I am looking for several families from SC. My gg grandfather was Robert A. Lumpkin b. Dec. 12, 1823 in SC. He m. Francis Watts Neal Oct. 29, 1848 in Cass/Bartow Co GA. He moved his family to Dekalb Co. Al. in the mid 1850's. Robert A. had a sister Lucretia Lumpkin m. Richard McNaron in 1839 in Dekalb Co. Al. Martha H. Leopard m. my ggg grandfather Jesse H. Davis in Fayette Co. GA. Martha was b. in SC, and some think that her family had the Leopard pottery business. Sara Lucinda "Lue" Smith was my gg grandmother. She was b. in SC between 1834 and 1843. Her tomb says 1834, and the census says 1843. No idea who her parents were. She m. George M. Davis in Fayette Co. Ga. in 1867. John A. Wells, was my gg grandfather, b. in Carolinas. m. Mary Polly Clay Dec. 30, 1832 in Newton Co. GA. We know very little abt him. Some of my family says "he was b. in SC." Some say "NC". On the census, my g grandfather says "Carolinas."
