    1. [Old96] Lequieu
    2. Hi! There are some Lequieu's in Saline Co, AR in late 1800's and still some there. In the 1910 census, Gus Lequieu stated that he was born in France and came to US in 1874. Another brother stated that he came to the US in 1879. There may have been other brothers that did not migrate to AR. Might have settled in SC-very possible. Interesting that Gus Lequieu's wife, Mattie Dodgen's, parents came from the Old 96!! Patricia A. 2. Virginia
    3. Hi Ladonna, My 6g-grandparents were Joseph Henderson and Delphia Lea and 5g's were Isabella Graves Henderson and Joshua Callaway. They ended up in Wilkes Co., GA. I would love to have new Henderson information. I have Lea and Callaway data that I would be happy to share with you if either is your family. Regards, Virginia -----Original Message----- From: LADONNA VIERTEL [mailto:middlebiscuits@charter.net] Sent: Wednesday, December 04, 2002 11:04 AM To: SC-OLD96-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [Old96] Attn:Bill Caddell Bill, do you know if any of your Hendersons were in Georgia in early 1800s, possibly after they were in SC? My Henderson is a Zachariah Henderson, born about 1800, in Georgia. There were Hendersons in Wilkes County, Ga at that time who tied into the Lea family. I believe Zachariah is tied to the Joseph or Zachariah Henderson who were in Georgia prior to 1800, but where they came from, I don't know. My Zachariah went to Mississippi by 1820 to Greene County, then Hinds County, then Leake County. Zachariah was married in 1820, but his first wife must have died because he married Sarah Ford in Hinds County, MS in 1828. Again, there were Leas appearing in these same counties which leads me to believe Zachariah is kin to them. Any help or direction would be appreciated. 1. [Old96] TAYLOR
    2. Margaret Taylor
    3. I am looking for Jesse Taylor born 1763ish in South Carolina. He was in the 1790 census, 1810,and 1820 District Ninety six, Edgefield Co. S.C. By 1830 in was in Lowndes County, Alabama. He died in 1834 in Lowndes County, Alabama. At the time of death his wife was Patience. I am not sure that was the mother of all the children, there is a gap in the birth's of groups of children. The children were: Zebider, Sarah, Lewis, Richard (my direct line), Joel, George, Barbara, Hackney, Randal, Matitela Elizabeth, & Milly. I have some information on all the children but Lewis. They all (except Lewis) came to Alabama with Jesse. Some went to Bibb County, some to Coffee, Covington Counties, and some stayed in Lowndes that later became Crenshaw County, Alabama. If anyone has information on The parents or siblings of Jesse I would certainly appreciate hearing from you. Jesse lived next to Tom Taylor in the 1790 census. Jesse had land dealings with an Everrett Taylor while in Edgefield but I do not know any connection. There was a Jesse Taylor named in the deed of Conveyance from Robert Hendrick to William Daniels dated October 1803, a John Taylor and David Burks are mentioned in land dealings Octer 1802. Zephoniah Nobles and Jesse had land dealings1804. All of these were in Edgefield County. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks, Margaret

    1. [Old96] Evan PEARSON (c1795-c1854)
    2. James Pearson
    3. While I cannot yet place Evan PEARSON (c1795-c1854) in the Pendleton District in person, many of his fellow members of the Baptist Church in that period did spend some time there in some part of their lives. I am lacking any clue as to the identity of his parents or siblings. A brief summation of his vital statistics is as follows: The first entry on Evan PEARSON (c1795-c1854), my gggrandfather, is in the 1830 Census in Habersham County, GA. He is married with 1 boy, 1 man and 2 women 16-25. He was an itinerant Baptist preacher in North GA. A sickly wife, name unknown, died c1836 according to GA State Baptist records. 1850 Census in Gordon County, GA says Evan is 55, born in GA, no wife shown, but 4 children: Rebecca, age 26 (c1824); Elizabeth, 20 (c1830); Albert 20 (c1830) and Phillip Marion 19 (1832) my ggrandfather. Evan PEARSON died c1854. DOD and cemetery unknown. The 3 other children are not found again after 1850 Census. Does any of this fit into your own work? Jim Pearson pearson96@attbi.com

    1. [Old96] Stevenson/Stephenson
    2. Charles Stephenson
    3. I have just joined the Old96 and am seeking information. My gg-grandfather, William H. Stephenson, was born Dec. 2, 1817 in the Anderson District. At that date I'm not sure which area name was in effect. Was it the Anderson District., Pendleton District., Old 96th District? Then again his birth information data comes from his Civil War records and I'm not sure they knew what district he was from. Anyway, I would appreciate any data from anyone that can tell me where in S. C. he was born plus the name of his parents. Thanks very much. 1. [Old96] New to list - BARNETT, BEAMON
    2. Hello to all, I have just joined the list and am looking for any info anyone may have on the family of James & Isabella BARNETT, in Old 96 in the late 1700-early 1800 period. James made a deed of gift to his children in 1812, in Pendleton Dist., of his land on the Tugaloo River. I know there were possibly several James Barnetts in the area, according to the census records, just don't know which one was mine. Need his parents, siblings, any other info on him. Isabella was supposedly a JOHNSTON, but don't know her parents or siblings either. Their children were Asa, Landy, Tillmon, Wiley, Rebecca (married Silas Pitts in SC) and Mary Jane. All were in AL in 1817, except possibly Wiley. These are fairly distinctive names but I have not found them in SC records except for the deed. The BEAMONs were probably neighbors in SC, and moved to AL about the same time. Have a long history of assoc. between the two families in AL. Would appreciate any input from anyone having info on the parents and/or siblings of James & Isabella Johnston BARNETT. Many thanks in advance!! Sherry Bowers Alabama

    3. Hi William, Re your MILLER inquiry, I have very little info on the the Nancy (Jenny) Miller who married Wm. L. Moody in Liberty Co., Ga, 1809. In fact have nothing beyond the stated info. I suspect he came from SC, but at this time no proof. I have not researched this family line which ended up in Fla., but hope to get into it. I am also seeking information on the Christie/Christy and Allen families who were listed at one time in the Old96 District prior to1800 should you have any information on them as well.
