Burris in Old Pendleton District graves. In "History of Saluda Baptist Association" by T. H. Garrett, Rev. James Burriss in recognized as an early Baptist minister who is buried in the "Old Mt. Tabor grave yard" in an unidentified grave. Mt. Tabor was the precussor to First Baptist Church, Anderson, SC as best I can tell. James, who married Susan Cain, is the son of Joshua Burris came to the District after the Revolution, from VA and NC families. James and Susan had 11 children and 80 grandchildren when the book was published. The book "Traditions and History of Anderson County" by Louise Ayer Vandiver; republished with an index by R.M. Smith ras references to many Burriss names. about 30.
Does the book have a Charles Burris b VA m Margaret Bryson b VA and a daughter named Mary Elizabeth b 1848? Charles & Margaret are my brick walls on this family.
