Ellen, I look under the listings by surname first in case of spelling differences. Click on the G and it will list all of the Grants. At this time James W. does not ring a bell. Do you have the dates for him? I could look around and see what I have. Is he buried in Pickens co. ? There was another family of Grants that were in the Northern part of Oconee when it was formed. (Asberry/Asbury) Grant and his wife Lucinda Carter. He is listed on the 1850 and 1860 census for Pickens and is buried in Oconee. Most of my Grants ended up on the Oconee co. side.
