As far >as I know, it is the only program that is large enough to run the gedcom >file now. (A gedcom won't run on it's own.) To my knowledge, the following PC programs can import the OPD d/b gedcom: Brothers Keeper (about an hour)* Family Origins (less than 2 hours)* PAF (about 2 hours)* Legacy (about 10 hours, will import the PAF d/b directly in about 4 hours) Those marked with * are included on the OPD d/b cd ready to run in the pgm (no import required). The *only* major PC genealogy program of which I am aware which *cannot* import the gedcom is FTM (unless you are using WinNT or Win2000). Currently, the *only* way to access the OPD d/b in Win95 or Win98 with FTM is by using the prepared databases for versions 5, 6 and 7 (including 7.5) on the cd. About anything you'd want to know about the cd can be found here: http://jrshelby.com/opdcd It is my understanding that at the OPDC/SCGS picnic on 23 September, that computers will be on hand where the database will be installed in several of the above programs, including FTM. http://www.homestead.com/hisxmark/2000picnic.html John Robertson
