    3. Well, the conversation has turned from me asking you guys not to leave, to you guys asking me not to leave. I'm not going anywhere. This list was my brain child and I've watched it grow into a great group of neighbors. The Old Pendleton District was where several of my ancestors came from. There is my great great grandmother, Mary Jane Spearman who was born on Brushy Creek, Old Pendleton District, S C. She married a man from there named John Moore. While I have information on her heritage way back to when her Spearman ancestors migrated from Virginia to South Carolina, I have yet to track down the heritage of John Moore's father and mother. All we know about John's parents was that his father was James M Moore born 1797 in S C, and his wife, Mary G was born 1812 S C, beyond this its like they came from nowhere and disappeared the same way. I sure would like to get a little further back on this line. Mary Jane Spearman's mother was Elizabeth Christina Slaton who was born 1805 in SC. Her parents were William Slaton born ca. 1770 while her mother was Sarah Honea. Thanks to a great cousin on this list we know the Slaton family way back to England. However, we still don't know the origins of one William Honea who, it has been said, may have had the town Honea Path named after him. We don't know that for sure about that either, but sure would like to find out. Further back on the Spearman line I have the Clardy family, and the Booth family, and the Oldham family. Most of these folks migrated to SC Old Pendleton District. So you see, I'm not going anywhere. This is where a large part of my heritage lies. Thanks, guys, for all your support. donna list admin

    3. Donna, in the 1810 census, Pendleton was listed as a county, is this true? 3. Hi Lew, Here's a great site to help you learn about The OPD. http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/3837/pendleton.html There are lots of good links here too that will add to your knowledge. But don't forget our favorite spot. The OPD Genealogical Society. http://www.geocities.com/BourbonStreet/Delta/8155/ Here you can obtain information about a data base with over 300,000 names of people who lived in and are associated with The OPD. This data base is the brain child of one of our great list members, Herman Geschwind. Good luck with your research. donna ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lewie Miller" <lewie77@prodigy.net> To: <SC-OLD-PENDLETON-DIST-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, August 10, 2000 6:56 AM Subject: Re: [SC-OPD] Admin Staying > Donna, in the 1810 census, Pendleton was listed as a county, is this > true? 3. Donna, Have you looked for an alien landing place in OPD, I declare there is one there somewhere. My William Reid Hamilton (1791-1853)was there and he had no visible parents. I can not separate my Jane Rodgers from all the other Janes, she married Jonathan Clarke in OPD in 1787. Maybe John Rodgers was her father and if so then who was her mother? OPD folks did not gossip and they kept their family stuff private but if someone can help me with Hamilton and Rodgers, I would appreciate it.
