    3. Lee, you wrote: I have a Moore family, who were in Pendleton Dist. ( then Abbeville, and Anderson Co.,) They were living near Williamston. My great -great grandfather was Alexander Moore, b.Jul. 1810, So. Car. and died after 1880 . He was listed in the 1880 census of Anderson Co., So. Car. He was married to Lucinda (unknown, maybe Sumner). His father was Thomas Moore, b. ca. 1778 inVirginia, and d. Nov. 1847. Do you think our Thomas Moore may be the same? I would give you more information if I had it, but unfortunately this is all I have on him . I have information on the descendants but can't seem to pull this family out of all the other Moore's. Would appreciate ANY help you or anyone on the list could give me. There are just so many Moore's it is hard to separate all of them. Thanks, Lee Campbell Patti, you wrote: Dear Lee and Warene, I'm very interested in any additional information about this Thomas Moore. A Thomas Moore purchased 100 acres on 26 Mile Creek ca. 1814, from the heirs of the original grantee. He sold it right away to Edmund/Edward Moore (the deed is confused about his name), who in turn sold it to David Moore, my g4-grandfather, in 1816. The David Moore family lived there through through the 1830s. Many of the children and their respective families remained in the Anderson/Pickens/Oconee area for generations. I have never been able to determine the relationships between these early Moores. Patti in VA >==== SC-OLD-PENDLETON-DIST Mailing List ==== Hi Lee, Patti and Donna: I thought I could just look in Martha Moore's book and all Upstate SC Moore problems would be solved. The Thomas Moore I listed, b. ca. 1770, lived in The Nation Community, w. Abbeville Co., SC. Four of his children were William, Alexander, Seth and John. William aged 60+ married Mary Brooks Bradberry, CSA widow half his age. She had one son by the Bradberry who is my g-grandfather. Moores interested me because my g-gf bought out his half-siblings after the death of Mary and the dwelling was the house in which he was raised by his Moore stepfather. It is still a residence, tho has seen a LOT of upkeep. I have believed that the 1785 Alexander Moore plat on Big Beaverdam in Anderson Co. meant that Thomas and Alexander were brothers, probably of the same family as Col. Eliab, Capt. Samuel and William who came here as O'Moores. Lots of stuff about Samuel as he was killed "unattended and alone" by "Bloody" Bill Cunningham in the 1776 War. Died intestate (no surprise). Lots about Eliab, Jr. as he was a politician from 96. I saw Donna's post about James M. Moore m. Mary G. and I thought "Mary Graham." No reference because Moores are no line of mine but a Mary Graham m. a Moore early hereabouts. Then there are the William (rich, rich, rich) Moore, Joseph Moore and Mary Moore Haggard McAlpin, siblings who lived in A'ville Co. for many years. If you see something here that might help you, let me know via hawkwoods@wctel.net. I forgot to say that the OLD MOORE TRACT is nearby Hwy 28. There are two Moore cemeteries there that have not been read. Most cemeteries have been surveyed by the wonderful Wayne Bratcher but these have not, they are so old and overgrown. If you can't find a Moore grave, it's probably there in the blackberry brambles and most likely fieldstones with initials only. This is all I can do right now. Best luck, Warenne.
