The message below came in when I ask the group to clean up the messages that were forwarded from somewhere else. When a message is forwarded the MIME usually is forwarded too. Bill replied with a challenge I think was appropriate for this list too. We have a lot of new comers. ------------------------------------------ OK, Bill, you're on Place the arrow of your mouse at the place where you want to begin copying or cutting text. Depress and hold down the left mouse button. While holding down the mouse button drag it across the test. This will "highlight" the text. Now release the left mouse button. Place the arrow of your mouse "on" the highlighted text. Click the right mouse button. A box will appear. Click on "copy" or "cut" Copy if you want to create a new message, or cut to clean up a message being forwarded. Now if you want that information to be somewhere else in a document, place the mouse arrow where you want the text to be placed. Click the right mouse button. Click on "paste" It will take some practice to learn how to control these things. Just don't give up. <Smile> Now no one has an excuse to forward a messy message. donna http://www.angelfire.com/tx4/donnasdigs ----- Original Message ----- From: <WHB925@aol.com> To: <dbrand@itexas.net> Cc: <VAROOTS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, August 28, 2000 10:36 PM Subject: Re: [VAROOTS] Please clean up your posts Donna: Why dont' you give the list instructions on how to copy and paste. It took me a long time to learn. I mentioned copy and paste to my niece and she said she only knew how to do it with scissors and a pot of paste. Bill Bowen

Here's a great way to clean up messages. After you copy the text, open Wordpad. Paste the text into it, then click edit, replace. In the "Find What" box that comes up type >. In the "Replace With" box, don't type anything. Click "Replace All" and it will remove all those >>>>. Then you can either save the Wordpad file and send it as an attachment or simply copy the new clean text and paste it into the new email to send out. This technique also works in other text editors. Hope this helps, Dave ----- Original Message ----- From: "Donna" <dbrand@itexas.net> To: <SC-OLD-PENDLETON-DIST-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, August 28, 2000 11:57 PM Subject: [SC-OPD] How to clean up those messages : The message below came in when I ask the group to clean up the messages that were forwarded from somewhere else.
