    1. Re: [SC-OPD] Marriage: Mayfields

    3. Alabama has good early marriage records. I have done a lot of research in Alabama, but not on the Mayfield lines. Be careful that you look very closely when looking at Alabama marriages. The marriage which many researchers looked for between a Cynthia Morton and Marc Lacey is recorded as Cynthia Mountain and Mack Lackey. It took awhile and many supporting documents to figure that one out. Good Luck in your search. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, January 10, 2004 3:26 PM Subject: [SC-OPD] Marriage: Mayfields > Thanks for the advice. > For the record, Samuel Mayfield lived on his father's land in OPD until > 1825 when he migrated to Tuscaloosa MS where his brothers had settled. > Sarah may have married in MS but I have had no luck in finding the > record. > Her husband, Berryman McDaniel, family and neighbors moved to Saline,AR > territory in 1840 when the recession of 1835 bankrupted many farmers. > (Caused by Andrew Jackson's war with the Nat'l Bank) > So everyone moved regularly.
