Hello Mildred, I am looking at a family group sheet for Archibald Mayfield [1794-1833] & wife Tabitha Bennett [1798-1842]. A brief family history follows this FGS. In the remarks is stated that Archibald moved with family to Tuscaloosa Alabama 1824/25. Also the compilers** states that Samuel Mayfield [apparently a Rev War soldier] followed his son to Tuscaloosa in 1825 and joined Sardis Baptist Church. Within the FGS is named a child of Archibald, Tabitha Ann who marries a David McDaniel in Tuscaloosa & dies in AR. The compilers are **John Ward of Texas; G. W. Drake of AL and J. V. Ernst of Texas; and B.S. Wilson of Texas. SOURCE: Tuscaloosa Genealogical Society, PIONEERS OF TUSCALOOSA COUNTY ALABAMA PRIOR TO 1830, (Montgomery, Alabama, Herff Jones Division, 1981): 145. Is this *your* Mayfield family? I hastily add I am NOT a Mayfield researcher - Charlotte Tucker. Tuscaloosa, AL
