Hi Mildred, I'm also researching for my gr gr gr grandfather in the same area. Nicholas Briskey/Brisky and his wife Elizabeth Mark/Merck. And in my researching I had found that many families migrated around 1830's many to GA around Troup and Harris Counties, and then many on into Chambers County,AL. I have a copy of the Heritage of Chambers County,AL book by Heritage Publishing company and I looked in the index and found three pages of Mayfields. Which could be decendents of your line. I have found many for other families from the same area. And what is nice in this book also decendents who did the articles names and addresses are there. Mayfields are on pages 37,62,295. You can go to your local library and ask them to order a copy through the inner library loan dept. Other wise it's about a $50.00 book. Page 37 has to do with the Baptist church's and Presbyterian Church. page 62 has to do with the Alsobrook family which is probaby a marriage there. And page 295 are two families wheeler-hammock family and whitlow family. So probably marriages there too. Seemed like everyone had large families back then. Good luck Sandel [email protected] Seattle Surnames: Briskey,Brisky,brisque,Demastus,Sutton,Meadows,Hodnett,Moore,McIntosh,Leverett,Mark/Merck (States SC, GA, Chambers COunty,AL, Washington State, TX and france) willing to share and trade info
