    1. [SC-OPD] Marriage Record
    2. You may have to look far and wide but when you find it, it could be a gold mine. 1 May 1855 Edith Stephens of Jackson Co AL applied for BLWt due from War of 1812. After reciting her deceased husband's military service "she further states that she was married to the said Daniel Stephens in the county of Penalton, South Carolina on or about the 10th day of January 1811 by Elnathan Davis a minister of the Gospel and that her name before her said marraige was Edith Murphey." I also found pages taken out of a family Bible for another family in his Rev. War pension file listing his marriage, wife's maiden name and marriages for several of his children. Can't get much better than that unless you find the church record or county register. Pat
