Buried in the Old Leverette Cemetery in Anderson....a private family cemetery. She appears to be daughter of John Atkinson deceased by July 29, 1799, Anderson County South Carolina. SOURCE: Newberry County South Carolina Probate Estate Abstracts, Volume 1, (1987), page 6: Box 1, Pkg. 6: 1799 John Atkinson, Sr. John & Thomas Atkison, Exec. John Floyd. sons - Thomas & William Atkinson, 300 acres whereon I now live on waters of Little River bound by Thomas Eastland, Wm Goggans & Wm. Powers; land to be appraised by friends Bartlett Satterwhite Sr. & John Floyd; above 2 sons to pay 150 pounds to other legatees. dau; Gracey Spearman, bed & furn. in her possession. dau; Mary Blalon, bed in her possession. dau: Martha Leverett, bed now in her possession. dau; Ann Spearman, bed now in her possession. dau; Elizabeth Atkinson, bed & negro girl Ursley 5 yrs. -remainder equally divided among children. -Executors: sons John & thomas Atkison & friend John Floyd -Witneses: Ezekiah Eastland, Wm. Powers, Thomas Bearden. App. - 17 Oct 1799. Bartlett Satterwhite Sr., John Satterwhite Sr., Wm. Wallace. Bk. B, . 360. -farm animals; negroes; Tom, Johnson, Ann, Rachel, Cate, Hannah, Elisha, Darkus, Jude, Tinsey, Beck & child; wagon; farm tools; furniture; loom; kitchenwar; chairs. This should give you some clues. Steven Livret is on the list of purchasers of the personal property of John Atkinson. The Anderson, SC, Leverett family tradition is that she was the dau of Capt. Thomas Atkinson. The above will record abstract is all I have for the parent(s) of Martha. From my additional research of the Leverett family migration from Virginia to the Carolinas, the Floyds, Wallaces and Satterwhites are from VA. So, you might look in the Virginia counties bordering Lunenburg Co and Amelia Co. Good luck! Charlotte
