    1. John HOLLOWAY, b. 1800 GA
    2. I am new to genealogy and this list. My maternal ggggrandfather was John HOLLOWAY, reportedly b. 1800 in probably the territory which became Rabun County, GA in 1819. Some researchers report his father was possibly a Solomon HOLLAWAY, b. 1774 VA, as John had a brother Miles Solomon, b. 1805 GA who also settled in Carroll/Coweta Counties GA. I have recently started searching for this family in north GA and SC in attempt to find and verify John's father. With help of other researchers, I found a transaction in Old Pendleton District (SC) where a Stephen HOLAWAY paid $200 to Thomas MILSAP for 80 acres on S. side of Roc ky River, bd. by James THOMPSON, John TINSLEY, granted John JOHNSTON, recorded BK B., No. 5, p. 349. Date 18 Feb 1801; it was witnessed by Winston, Lent, and John HALL who made an oath to E. BROWNE. Two John HOLLOWAYS were on the 1800 Edgefield SC census, possibly father and son, maybe the same ones identified on another list as living on SaHalfway Swamp? I don't know where these HOLLOWAY families came from originally, but by 1830, they had moved from north Georgia and settled in Carroll County GA, with John later moving to Randolph County AL. John had married Dorcas BECK in 1823 in Hall County GA. They traveled with her parents Isaiah BECK and Dorcas YORK along with his daughter, Mary and her husband, William STEWART to Carroll County GA. Because these families traveled together and I found the Becks in Rabun County GA as well as in the Old Pendleton District (later Pickens) of SC, I thought the HOLLOWAYS might have been located in the same areas. Would appreciate any information or suggestions about these families, especially John HOLLOWAY, his parents and/or siblings. Thanks, JMFuller .
