Hi Folks, I could use your help in identifying a William KING and how he is "related" to an Edward WADE and Elijah WADE. The William KING (b. 1760-1770) I am looking for was active in the Big Creek Baptist Church in the early 1790s. This church was located in an area that is present day Anderson Co SC but was in Ninety Six District of SC in the 1790s. In 1804, and again in 1828, William was the minister of the Head of Enoree Baptist Church (now Reedy River Baptist Church) which is in present day Greenville Co SC but again was part of Ninety Six District in 1804. While William served in churches that were in present day Anderson and Greenville counties he actually lived in present day Spartanburg Co. Baptist church records indicate this and he appears on the 1820 and 1830 census for Spartanburg Co SC. William KING witnessed several deeds for my gggg-grandfather Edward WADE (b. abt. 1757). One could guess that William KING was simply a neighbor of Edward WADE and the reason he witnessed the deeds. However, one of Edward's sons was Elijah WADE b. abt. 1804 SC. Elijah (my ggg-grandfather) is found living in the residence of William KING at the taking of the 1830 Spartanburg Co SC census. Elijah was married at the time of the taking of the 1830 census and his wife and children are on the 1830 Jackson Co AL census. I know Elijah was living with William KING in 1830 as there is a very unique dual head of household entry on the 1830 census that shows both William KING and Elijah WADE as the head of household. After looking at a will and some church records I think William KING's wife was Frances MORRIS. I am trying to answer these questions: What was the relationship of Edward WADE and Elijah WADE to William KING? Why was Elijah living with William KING and wife at the taking of the 1830 census? Why was William KING and Elijah WADE both shown as head of household for the same household on the 1830 census? Thank you, Eldon
