Eldon, I have been trying to break a brick wall on my lone Craig for 30 years. I think I was just locating a family for my lone Dicy (Dessie) Malissa Craig born Apr 17, 1837 in SC. and found the below census and the family was near the John West family that my Dicy married about 1857. Mary (Nancy) WHITAKER b. abt. 1819, parents unknown. Leonard CRAIG married Mary WHITAKER and they are found in Marshall Co, AL from 1830s forward. I don't know where in SC either of them were born. Rebecca HAMES b. abt. 1802, married Elijah WADE b. abt. 1804. I don't know where in SC either of them were born but believe it was in the part of OPD that is now Anderson and Union counties. Rebecca is the dau. of John HAMES and Charity JASPER. I know a great deal about the HAMES family but very little about Rebecca herself. Elijah WADE is the son of the Edward WADE b. abt. 1757.
