It's quite possible that he moved. He may have come to SC from NC and gone back there, or moved on to Georgia or Tennessee. There was a *massive* migration of people from both Carolinas south as well as west after the Revolution, only partly due to the opening up of land in the west and south. For example, I'm descended from the William BRYSON who died in the OPD in 1796 -- through one of his two sons who went back to NC after the Revolution.
