    3. My great-great grandfather sworn in an affidavit in the 1880's that his name was Benjamin Franklin Hanie, born 3 March 1821 Pendleton District, South Carolina. That he came to Georgia as a boy and been here ever since. I first found him at age 16 in Gwinnett Co., GA, when he volunteered to fight in the FL-Indian War. He was still there when he married in 1839. to Elizabeth Margaret Martin (, born ca 1822 GA her parents unknown) The family still therein the 1840 census, no other Haney/Hainey/etc in that county appears to be his family. Later census after he left that county going into Forsyth, Pickens & Hall Co's Ga gives SC as a place of birth for his parents. He appears to have been able to read & write from those early times in Gwinnett Co., Ga as he used those skills to read the works of Dr Thomson receiving his 'Right' to practice his type of medicine (1842) no other license needed. He was a physician and a Methodist lay-preacher . The first names of his children (in order of birth) were: Sarah Adaline; William H.; John ,; Thomas Newton; Nancy Emaline; Elizabeth Margaret; Mary Amanda; James Minyard; Josephine L.; Samuel Tate' Olivine Sophronia & Benjamin F. Jr. I have search what I could on all the variable & surname families in the OPD area I have just about given up after 20+ years. I guess this family's beginnngs were of the unknow...but somehow I just have a feeling they were there in OPD......can anyone give me a way to go, PLEASE!! Thanks Annette
