Reply (in part) from Elizabeth Whitaker: Here's a possibility -- go to http://www.wofford.edu, click on the link to the library, and then on the link to archives. The archives of the South Carolina Conference of the Methodist Church are housed in the library building, and they have an online obituary index. Look for Hanies/Haynies/Haneys there, in the 1800s. (The denominational newspaper (Southern Christian Advocate) began publishing in 1837.) If you find any who look like good possibilities, e-mail the archivist (rpstone@wofford.edu) and ask for copies of the obituaries. -------- Thanks so very much Elizabeth for that information, I appreciate any & all ideas from everyone with a knowledge of SC & or OPD.
