Bill Bridges: I am also researching BRIDGES in SC, specifically Benjamin BRIDGES (from Greenville area) who married Elizabeth Langston. He was the father of Lucinda BRIDGES (born Greenville SC abt 1828) who married William Whitlock and lived in Benton/Calhoun County Alabama. I am trying to identify the names of Benjamin's other children in hopes I can identify him as the father of my gr-gr-grandfather, Billings Bridges, and possibly also the father of Baylas BRIDGES. Billings BRIDGES was born in GA abt 1827-1830, moved to Alabama (Benton/Calhoun County) & married Arabella Smith in 1847, fathered a son Bluford Butler BRIDGES in August 1848, and then subsequently died in Mar/Apr 1849. The names of Baylas(Baylus,Bayles,Baylis) BRIDGES and William Whitlock were mentioned as executors in his will. I found that William Whitlock was married to Lucinda BRIDGES, and lived near Baylas BRIDGES (Benton County AL)and also near a Benjamin BRIDGES. Believing they might all be from the same BRIDGES family, I have been researching Lucinda's parents. It seems that Lucinda's mother, Elizabeth Langston(born abt 1790 Greenville), was the child of John Langston and Elizabeth Billingsley---hence the name Billings BRIDGES, maybe??? Any connections?
