Yes there certainly is a Beaufort SC in the low country, but if the deed says Burford , Pendleton Dist, I don't think this is helping this query. Could this possibly be an early a township. I have early maps of Edgefield Dist, SC that has townships on it, so there are probably maps of Pendleton dist that show the same. Many of the townships of Edgefield Dist had peoples names for their township names. This could be the same for Pendleton Dist,. It might be on a census, in 1790-1810 from his dates given in the message. Sorry, I cannot help with the Pendleton question, but maybe this will put you on the right tract of something to look for.
