I have a letter written in 1852 from Cherokee County, Georgia, to Old Pickens District, South Carolina. This letter was delivered to present day Oconee County, South Carolina. The surnames SMITH, BURNS, BROOKS, and SANDERS are mentioned in the letter.

Okay, I have to jump in here...the Selfs are part of my cluster that travel from SC (OP) to GA to AL...where I stop following them.Vincent, John, Job, Pressley and a host of others...the listing in Gone to GA is longish...The stay in GA is long...I follow a Jackson CO GA branch that went on to AL after it became a state in 1819. The bulk stayed in GA and then went West to TN and on. Madison Co: James, John in Claarke Co, George in Washington Co and Wm in Hall Co. That's all about Kelley SELF has a page and 1/2, but no John Spencer Self. These are the listed names: Vinson1805 Jackson, 1820 Hall Co. Bulloch Self Laurens Co. Baalan Self Pendleton Dist 1830. Francis Self in the wars in VA from 1754. Francis, Presley, SPENCER and Isaac being in Montgomery County. None in SC's 1790 censusexceptSamkuel and JOHNin Charleston. "In Pendleton District, living near the Clevelands and Cornwells from the Surry-WilkesCountyareof North Carolina, and the Vickrys were SPENCER SELF 45 or oldernext to Levi Self 16-25, and near Francis Self 26-44 and Riley Self,26-44. " The Selfs remained in GA for a time before moving west. Oglethorpe Co, Elijah Self m: Patsy Beavers 1805. Harrison Cooper m: DiceySelf1803 (bonds). Haabersham Co, GA in 1827 had a # of Self's that moved from Pendleton Dist, SC. SPENCER SELF in 1816, Elijah Self inMonroe Co, Al. Elijah was lieutenant under Lt. Co.
