    1. [SC-OPD] ?WADE/LOVE connection?
    2. Amelia Forrest Bogard
    3. I have been seeing queries about WADE family. Does anyone have a connection between a WADE and a LOVE in your files? In my search for Wade LOVE's ancestry, the only other Wade LOVE I have found is a grandson. Where did the name Wade came from? A maternal ancestor or uncle, perhaps? Wade LOVE's father WAS NOT Col. David LOVE as is listed somewhere, probably on Family Tree Maker. Two kind people have found this information and sent it to me, but I have proven it not to be correct. Here is Wade LOVE's biographical sketch again! I'm asking for a miracle! Who were the parents/siblings of Wade LOVE? Wade LOVE was born in 1795 in South Carolina. He served in the War of 1812 as a private in Capt. John Miller¹s Company, Kentucky Militia (or Mounted Volunteer Infantry--commanded by Maj. Peter Dudley), from 20 Sept. 1814 until 20 Nov. 1814. He was allowed 160 acres of bounty land (Warrant #55090, 160 acres--Act 1855) on his application executed 28 Sep. 1855, at which time he gave his age as 60 years, then a resident of Rusk County Texas. He was allowed pension on his application 28 Feb. 1875, Coryell County Texas. That application names Jane WILSON as wife married 15 Feb 1815 in South Carolina. It also states that he was honorably discharged at Detroit, Michigan, on 1 Feb. 1815. He was dropped from pension rolls because of death. Three sons were born to Wade and Jane in South Carolina: Martin A. (b. 1817, m. C. EDWARDS 1842 in Travis Co. TX), John W. (b. 1820) and David (gave birthplace as Pendleton District SC) (b. 31 Oct. 1821, m. Mary Jane LANGSTON 27 Mar. 1845 in Rusk Co. TX). Daughters Mary Elizabeth (b. 1824, m. Wm. GRIFFIN 1843 in Rusk Co. TX) and Elinor/Ellen Jane (b. 1828, m. 1843 J.W. DARLINGTON) and son Alexander Hawkins (b. 1832, m. Adeline J. WOODALL) were born in Georgia. Son Wesley Easley (b. 1834, m. 1861 Virginia Katherine COATES in Coryell Co. TX) was born in Tennessee, and son Leonard R. (b. 1839, m. 1861 Francis POWELL in Coryell Co. TX) was born in Webbersville, Travis Co TX. The Republic of Texas Land Grant Records reveal that third class land grant was made to Wade Love. Republic of Texas Poll List for 1846 lists Wade LOVE of Rusk County. Federal Census of 1850 of Rusk County Texas lists Wade 55, Jane 52, Alexander 18, Westley 15, and Leonard 11. The Love family started moving into Coryell County soon after its creation in 1854. Federal Census of 1860 of Coryell County Texas lists Wade 64, Jane 63, and Leonard R. 21. Federal Census of 1870 of Coryell County Texas has Wade 75 and Jane 73. Jane WILSON LOVE died 16 June 1871 near Gatesville in Coryell County. She was buried in Masonic Cemetery in Gatesville. Wade married Mrs. Elizabeth HALEY, widow of Mark HALEY, 25 July 1872. Wade died 7 October 1878 at his residence near Gatesville in Coryell County. He was buried beside his first wife; an old, iron fence still surrounds their graves. His widow, Elizabeth LOVE, was allowed pension on account of Wade¹s services, on her application executed 12 April 1880, at which time she was 67. She died 4 November 1896.
