Excuse me for sending the vacant response. Benjamin Franklin Whitner is the son on Joseph Whitner and his wife Elizabeth Shackleford. They are my GGGG grandparents. Old BF, as we call him, was born in Pendelton, SC on 9/22/1791. He died 10/1/1864. His wife Eliza Ann Spann was born 1/19/1792 in South Carolina. She died 10/15/1854. He is buried in Tallahassee, Fla. He moved there and was quite successful as a "Planter." They had seven children. John Charles Whitner I appears to be the second. He married Sarah Martha Cobb on September 28, 1853. I do not have the location of the nuptials, but I assume that it was in Athens, Ga. Sarah Martha was born there on 8/10/1831.
