Sandel, I had good success contacting the Charleston Public Library, and also the state archives in Columbia. Can't remember which location provided it, but I ordered and received the complete index to Royal Land Grants in the surname I was researching. These are all, as you would expect, prior to the Rev War, but I was able to place my line in locations, and find out how many there were in SC with that surname who received early grants from the English crown. In many cases it also shows who the land was passed on to. Hope this helps, Janice
