    3. Hello List Members, I'm new to the list and I'm hoping to either prove or eliminate the fact that my Farmer family came through the Old Pendleton District of South Carolina to Franklin County, Georgia. I'm really hoping someone on the list can help me. I've worked backwards from my grandfather, (1) James W. Farmer, b: 1907, Heard Co., GA to his father: (2) William A. Farmer, b: circa 1867, Heard Co., GA to his father: (3) Isaac N. Farmer, b: 1839, Henry Co., GA to his father: (4) Ira E. Farmer, b: circa 1806, North Carolina. There is a possibility that Ira has a brother John Farmer, and possibly another brother James Farmer and that both were born in South Carolina. In my record search to trace this family, the earliest record I have found so far, for Ira Farmer is where he is found on the 1831 Tax Digest for Henry County, GA. There is an older James Farmer that draws land in the 1827 GA Land Lottery as a R. S., while living in Henry County, GA (please don't confuse them with the two younger James & John Farmer that I believe are Ira's brothers). I have a theory, but not proven, that this older James Farmer is Ira's father. Henry and Newton County have been searched for a Will of this older James Farmer, but not found. I have had absolutely no luck in obtaining a military file for this older James Farmer's revolutionary service from NARA. The DAR only lists a James Farmer that was born, lived, served and died in Virginia, so this can't be the James I'm trying to research. I have found this same older James Farmer along with an older John Farmer in the 1830 Henry County GA Census, (I believe James dies sometime after 1830 in Henry or Newton County, GA), back to the 1820 Gwinnett Co., GA Census, and finally both are found in the 1809 Jackson Co., GA Tax Digest. This is where (1809) I'm stranded at this time with my research. Jackson County was at one time a part of Franklin County GA, and Franklin Co. was a huge and early County of Georgia. I understand that Franklin Co., even reached into South Carolina at one time. I also understand that a lot of the early settlers of Franklin County, GA came by way of SC, with a lot of them coming through the Old Pendleton District. Is there anyone on the list that can help me with this? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
