I've followed this thread, hoping that someone just might have an answer to my COBB problem. I know so little about the woman I'm looking for -- most is assumption based upon comments by others. I've linked a family together whom I think are related, but I'm just NOT SURE. Could someone take on this challenge?? >1-- William Cobb ( - ) NOT PROVEN as parents > sp-Anna MNU* ( - ) " " " > 2-- Nancy E. I'm also looking for ANY Native American who might be a SMITH, Montgomery, McAlister, Mullinax or Cobb. I have a family story/tradition saying that we do have a connection to a man called Rockybottom Smith who was NA . . . but that man has yet to be found -- he was probably born before 1800 in or close to SC and Old Pendleton District. Fingers crossed! Hope someone can help. K McGee <snip>
Hi, have information on Rockybottom Smith if he was in the Rabun - Habersham County, GA area. I wouldn't think there would be two men with that nickname. John F. "Rockybottom" Smith John F. smith, well known in his mature years by the nickname of "Rocky Bottom" was an orphan boy who livd with James Stonecypher in Franklin county, in what is now the Eastannollee community, and came from that county into the Tallulah district with him. After a few years he married Sarah Fuller, a daughter of Samuel Fuller. "Rockybottom" was born 4/3/1824 in Georgia. He married on December 1, 1844 Sarah M. Fuller (5/11/1824-3/27/1908), d/o Ransom and Nancy Love Fuller. Ransom Fuller was born in North Carolina about 1797 and Nancy Love in South Carolina about 1800. excerpt from: "Rabun County Roots" by Harold and Janic Jackson Ivester ----- Original Message ----- From: "K McGee" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, April 18, 2004 11:25 AM Subject: Re: [SC-OPD] Want a Challenge? Pat that is wonderful -- but I think that this Rocky Bottom is just a little too young (maybe by 20 years) to be mine. The area could be close enough to Lumpkin and Forsyth Counties to be a possible. This is the absolute closest we've ever come to finding ours!! Thanks so much for taking a chance that you had him and sharing the information with me!
