    1. Looking fo Reese/McIntyre connection
    2. J. Phillip White
    3. I am seeking information on a couple of old Pendleton families....That of John McIntire and his son Felix McIntiire; and that of Rev. Thomas Reese, and his son Sydney Reese (Thomas Sydney or Sydney Alexander, I'm not sure which is right?), I am trying to establish the connection between the Reeses and the McIntires. It is my belief that John McIntire may have married a Reese or even more likely that his son, Felix, was married to a Reese, (possibly the daughter of Sydney Reese (son of Rev. Thomas)). I would appreciate all the help you can offer regarding this issue...Thanks so much for your valuable time.. Sincerely, Phillip White --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- John McIntire (father of Felix): b. ca 1759, North Carolina., d. 12 DEC 1835, Habersham County, Georgia (John McIntire is listed on the 1790 Pendleton, South Carolina federal census.) Spouse: Anna (possibly Reese) Birth: 1762 Children: Joseph (1770-) James (1780-) Phillip (1790-) Felix (ca1794-1850) Mary (ca1795-) Jonathon (ca1799-) Elender (ca1804-) Celia Cata (ca1805-) Elizabeth (ca1806-) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Felix McIntire Birth: ca 1794, South Carolina Death: 1850 - 1860 Spouse: Martha J. Some of the surnames were; Sanders, Lumpkin, Emory/Hembree/Emery, etc. You mentioned Gossett as one of you lines. I have a letter written in the 1880s from H.J. 3. Thanks to the Old Pendleton District Newsletter (Vol 19 #8, Oct. 2005) and to Anne Sheriff for allowing her transcription of the Pendleton Messenger (p. 156) to be published monthly, we finally have proof the William Copeland that was the J. P. and had the title of Esq., was actually William Copeland, Sr., a Capt. in the Revolutionary War and not his son William, Jr, who served in the War. of 1812! When father and son lived in the same timeframe, we could not tell which William this was until this was printed. Jr. or Sr. was never used when he signed as J. P., nor was it used when he signed as Esq. There are different opinions as to which was the Justice, but now we know for sure. The 15 July 1829 issue tells us about a Fourth of July Celebration held at Robert McCann's and about 400-500 people attended. William Copeland, Esq. made a toast and he along with a few other surviving Rev. Soldiers, planted a tree. Perhaps that tree is still alive somewhere on the old Robert McCann property? If anyone has questions on this, please direct to the mailing list and perhaps one of my cousins will take over for me and answer. My time is fully devoted to family members for the next few weeks. Thanks. Wilma Copeland Kirkland (P. S. - Kim Wilson, this should be of interest to you).

    3. In the 1805 Ga land lottery ( the only GA lot. list to record all whether they won or not) was a William Floid, a Benjamin, widow Charity, 2 Chas, and Eli, Granberry, 2 Johns, 2 Josephs, a Richard, a Robert, a Thomas, an Uz ??, and a William Floyd.AND , in my own data, John Goodgame born reputedly in SC in 1777 married a Sarah Crockett and had a string of Floyd Crockett Goodgames,. The Floyd, in this case, was always held to be a surname.
