I would be interested in learning where and what you found about Eleanor being adopted. I have not seen that. I wonder if it could be proven by adoption/guardianship records? Do they exist? Have you seen R. W. Simpson, History of Old Pendleton District, pp 110-111 where it says that Eleanor and Samuel Taylor were buried on the old farm now owned by the children of A. F. Lewis? Do you know the location of these burials? Bob Pfennig in New Braunfels, TX brownej wrote: I am descended from Eleanor Cannon and Samuel Taylor. Married ca.1830 John Dodson and Ellender [Nelly] (her last name unknown). They are listed in the 1830 Census. They lived near the confluence of Mile Creek and Keowee River. John was born in South Carolina. I think he had a brother named Richard as his son, my g-grandfather was named "William Richard Dodson" and a Richard Dodson was living nearby. I have just gotten Anderson Land records for my Clarks. Most of it is easy to understand, but there are two that I am having trouble understanding. They are the last two sales in this list all of which concern land sold by my gg grand -mother Martha Jane Nevitt Clarke, wife of John Baylis Clarke, Jr, after he had died in 1888.. Does dower in the third sale mean land that her husband left her in his will, and what does Homestead mean in the last sale? Grantor Index Martha J. Clark to Samuel D. Have seen several reference to Stewart on the roll calls. I have the following: Descendants of Daniel A. Garrett 1 Daniel A. Garrett b: Abt. 1794 in SC d: Bef. May 06, 1872 in Forsyth Co., GA. . +[Stuart] b: Bet. 1794 - 1800 d: Bef. 1843 m: Abt. 1812 ( He had other wives) I wonder if it should be Stewart. Do any of you Stewart/Stuart researchers have a daughter who married a Garrett? Billie Jones
I am searching for ancestors of Jacob or Samuel Edens (one source list Jacob as the husband of Rachel, another list Samuel) who married Rachel Stewart Hamilton. Rachel's first husband was Jacob Hamilton. The children of Rachel and either Jacob or Samuel Edens were born in South Carolina. Their oldest child was born in 1792 which would lead me to speculate that the birth dates of ?Edens and Rachel were in the 1760's. By 1814 three of the sons, among them my direct ancestor James Edens, were found in Bledsoe County, Tennessee. Archiblad remained in the middle Tennessee area until he migrated later in life to Louisiana. Alexander and Samuel lived in the area around Lincoln County and Winchester, Tennessee. My ancestor, James, migrated with his father-in-law Featherston Walden to Morgan County, Alabama. Recently I discovered a marriage license for younger brother Elias Edens in Lawrence County, Alabama, which adjoins Morgan County, Alabama. My direct ancestor, James Edens, was ordained as a Baptist Minister in Morgan County, Alabama. Sherry
Sorry, I only have one Patterson and dates are too late. She could be a descendant NOTE: There were bunches of Garretts in Laurens Co, early census information, but I have not connected them to my Garretts of Pendleton Dist then forsyth Co., Ga. But if they do, it is possible that your Pattersons migrated to Pendleton as well. Looking to place Earle Preston Taylor with parents and siblings. Born 1849 in SC and wed Eliza A. Wilson on January 9, 1864 in Anderson. Eliza the daughter of Abby Orr and William Mattison Willson/Wilson. Earle Taylor served in Company G, Major Thomas H. Russell's battalionof the SC reserves. Eliza's mother, siblings and cousins migrated to TX via wagon train about 1869-1870 but Eliza and Earle followed years later, setting in Van Alstyne, Grayson, TX. Earle d. 1923, Eliza in 1947 @ age of 103. Have photos and newspaper articles on this family, as well as notes from Earle's TX Civil War pension records, but want to place Earle with birth family. Have moderate amount on their descendants.

Would kill to discover and prove parentage of both Thomas and Sarah. Thomas E. Willard believed to be son of James Willard and Winnifred Woodruff Hill of Union County.
