    1. [SC-OPD] Question regarding Orr's Rifles/Regiment
    2. Dave carmine
    3. I am hoping someone on the list would know: Is Orr's Rifles and Orr's Regiment the same unit? I read that the uniform worn by the members of Orr's Rifles was green. However, I have not been able to find out the "shade" of green. I just found at http://www.rootsweb.com/scpicken/civilwar/surnames/g.htm- William H. Golden - served in Orr's Regiment, Company C, Private, Oconee Co., age 17 when enlisted. Richard Golden b ca 1815/1816 had a son named William H. Golden b 1846/1847. Thanks for your help. Harriett

    2. Check the census for Tippah Co. MS for 1850 or 1860, in the vicinity of Salem, Orizaba, Ripley, Falkner. I believe thee are Garretts living in a Stewart household or Stewarts living in a Garrett household. At one time I thought they might be part of my Stewarts line, but apparently they are not my direct line of Stewarts. Cordelia

    2. Hi, Carol, At long last! I have been hunting these people for some thirty years and yours is the first time I have had a significant lead on them. Thank you so much. Now, I am encouraged to take up the search again in earnest. I have printed out your e-mail and will file it with the meager folder I have on Sherrards and hope to add to it. The internet certainly is an improvement on the years I spent snail-mailing. Thanks so much. Cordelia

    2. I'm also looking for Smith's in this area. I have an Andrew Smith (born 1-26-1818), married to Millie ?. They had these children: Charles (born 4-10-1832), Wales, Rowley, Millie, Theresa. Charles, who is my ancestor, married Sarah Ann Wilson. They all lived in the Brushy Creek area of Anderson County, near Easley. Charles and Millie are buried in Fairview Methodist Church cemetery. I am trying to locate the parents of Andrew and Millie. Any ideas? Jean Freeman
