I would appreciate any help to find information on Michael King Byrd, born in 1756 in Duplin County, NC and move to South Carolina in abt. 1770 with his mother and siblings. He was the son of John Byrd and Catherine King. John died in NC and Catherine remarried to a Moses Smith and moved to Fairfield Co. SC. Michael had property surveyed in Camden, Pendleton and Fairfield Counties (Dist.) in 1794 / 1798. I would appreciate any Help to locate this family, who Michael married and children. Thanks for your Help. Melvin Byrd
Sorry if some of you also subscribe to several lists. My SC lines are DODDs from the William and Catherine the Quaker clan. That includes marriages to GORE, NORMAN, FOSTER, HEMPERLEY, POWELL, LANGSTON, WORD, BOBO, and obviously many other families, since these DODDs came to Union/Laurens/Spartanburg area by 1767/70 from VA. Many moved on into Pickens/Pendleton, SC, and GA beginning in late 1820s-30s. I'm looking for old photos of these DODD kin. I have copies of pics (dates approximate today) of Thompson (Jesse II, Jesse, William the Quaker) DODD, 1805-1889; wife Nancy (Edward, Jesse, William the Quaker) B. DODD DODD, 1815-1890s; John (Edward "Neddie", Thomas, William the Quaker) Sample DODD, 1808-1880s; James Thompson (John S, Neddie, Thomas, William t. Q) DODD, 1830s-1900. And children of James Thompson, some of Thompson's children.... Most of these photos are made around 1870s, when these ggggrandparents were white headed and sunken jawed. Or post Civil war era when beards were in style. However, the bone structure is quite clear, except for those pics with the full beards. I have none, however, of John Sample's wife Elizabeth WORD DODD nor of his father Neddie and 2nd wife Jane WORD DODD, all of whom lived into the age of common photographs. Neddie's 1st wife Jane (Jechonias I, etc.) LANGSTON died before photography but her brother Asa LANGSTON lived long and also married a Sarah DODD, sister of Neddie. James Thompson's 1st wife died before the civil war, was a HEMPERLEY from a FOSTER with a POWELL ancestor, whose several brothers and sisters also married into DODD lines. There must be photos somewhere of some of these families. These older DODDs pics that I have show 2 extremely different head types--one with high squarish forehead, high cheekbones, long nose, and long squarish jaw, big ears sometimes sticking out--sort of Abe Lincoln gaunt profile--really stereotypical of frontiersmen! Thompson DODD, s/o Jesse and uncertain mother, exemplifies this type as did my grandfather Odis (John Mart, James Thompson, John Sample, Neddie, Thomas, William t. Q.) DODD. The other shows a roundish or oval head with soft features and apple cheeks. That describes Nancy B. (Edward, Jesse, William) and John Sample (Neddie, Thomas, William t. Q.). Both types have a high hairline and tend to snow white hair at a fairly young age. Even my two nephews show these two types. I would love to hear from others who have pre 1900 pictures from this clan. Anne
North Carolina Granville County Crenshaw, Robert married Hester, Fanny on 30 Oct 1798 in Granville County, North Carolina I found this on an Ancestry.com database. I could not find Robert Crenshaw in the 1800 census or any other census. Jim Campbell Raleigh, NC
I am searching for any information on Robert CRENSHAW, son of Abraham CRENSHAW, who died in Pendleton District, SC in 1807. According to his father's will Robert was supposed to live with his Mother Nancy (HESTER?). But Nancy short afterwards remarried, to William HARPER. What happened to Robert? Is the previously published information that he married Fanny HESTER 1798 in Granville Co, NC correct? Does anyone know when this family removed from Granville Co to SC? Any information on this family would be appreciated. Carol Shrader Virginia Beach, VA
Does anyone have any info on William WADE who appears on the 1820 Pendleton census (with 4 sons under 10 yrs old) ? Thanks, Eldon
This message is going to more than one list so if anyone is on more than one of these lists they may receive this email multiple times and I apologize for that in advance. Does anyone have any info on the following individuals or their children? William WADE married Mary GRAVES on 7-12-1752 in SC Noel WADE married Mary HODGE on 12-21-1797 in SC I am especially interested in the names of the children of each of these couples. Any info would be very appreciated. Source: South Carolina Mag. of Ancestral Research, Vol. 5, # 3 (1675-1858) One liner: Genealogists don't die, they just lose their census Eldon
Hi Listers, First let me apologize to those of you who may be a member of more than one of these lists and thus you will receive more than one copy of this mail. I need help!! I'm looking for any info on Elijah WADE b. abt. 1804 SC and Rebecca HAMES b. abt. 1802 SC. Elijah and Rebecca m. 12-30-1823 in Hall Co GA. In the 1820's and 1830's they must have been in SC as Elijah and Rebecca had four children b. in SC (three sons, I don't know their names, and a dau. named Martha Ann). I don't know the parents of Elijah WADE but I would love to find out who they are because that is my prime objective. Rebecca was the dau. of John HAMES and Charity JASPER. The HAMES lived in Union Co SC when Rebecca was born but later they moved to Hall Co GA. I found someone who I think was Elijah on the 1830 Spartanburg Co SC census but can't him on any other census in SC. I can't find him at all on any of the GA census. I know Elijah and Rebecca moved to Benton (Calhoun) Co AL because they appear on that county's 1840 census. Later they permanently moved to Marshall Co AL where they appear in 1850, 1860, etc. Any help to identify Elijah WADE's parents would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Eldon
My grgrgrandfather was Josph Prevost. He died in Anderson in 23 October 1876, though lived in Charleston at least until 1850, since he is in Charleston in the 1850 census. His origins are quite vague. I would like to know the names of his parents and where he was born. I thought perhaps access to the obituary would help give a little more information. I am also looking for siblings of my grandfather Stephen Prevost, born in Anderson in 1877. He was the son of Sylvanus and Palmyra McCully Prevost. Does anyone have access to the 1880 census? I am also interested in the McCully family. Thanks Beth

Hi Folks, I don't usually forward information to my lists from other lists, but this one looks really good. I'm sure a lot of families from South Carolina migrated to Texas. I have several families from the OPD who settled here. There are also lots of Brands in the area. Be sure to give credit where credit is due if you chose to spread the work around. Will someone notify Cindy's Internet Site about this? These kids need all the encouragement we can give them. They have truly given of their talents. Through out time men and women have gone to war. Husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, and friends have died. On this Memorial Day lets all say a simple Thank You to their survivors who have endured their loss so we might enjoy the freedom to speak our thoughts, pursue happiness, and live in our Country of Liberty. Lets all say Thank You for the sacrifices you've made that allows us to pursue the principals your loved ones died for. Thank you, donna list admin
