Hello Listers, For those of you inquiring about Nicholsons, I can offer you nothing more than what appears in Wm. C. Stewart's (LA newspaper man) Analysis of 1800 Pendleton District Census. (This is National Genealogical Society, 1963). Stewart's pagination: pp. 1-31 Brown's Regiment (now Pickens County) p. 8 William Jamison bought on 20 Nov. 1791 from John Nicholson 225 acres on Pierce Creek of George's Creek of Saluda River p. 13 Bolin Nicholson 20010-30010-00 p. 18 John Holden died in 1852 (Pickens Equity Pack 76) owning land on Nicholson's Fork of Little River of Keowee, which was named for John Nicholson after he purchased it from Wm.Stewart. p. 25 A tract of land granted to John Nicholson on 3 July 1786 on George's Creek was sold 24th March 1798 by Isaac James to David Duncan. Kilpatrick's Regiment (now Oconee) pp 31-95: p. 46 John Nicholson 40010-11010-00 p. 70 Margaret Green in Abbeville in 1790, possibly the widow of Benjamin Green, and Benjamin Green, Jr. owned two tracts in Pendleton , both of which he sold to William Nicholson. Nicholson and his wife Margaret sold one of them on waters of Little Generostee to Alexander Sherrard 24 March 1800. (Not in Wm. Stewart's book, but my Stewart Line married in to the Sherrard line: John Sherrard married Nancy Stewart; he a younger brother of Alex. Sherrard; she a sister to my Samuel Stewart. csholem) p.80 Wm. Stewart land he acquired in 1795 to Wm. Nicholson 22 Oct. 1800. p. 83 William Nicholson 40110-11010-00 p.83 Elijah Nicholson (not in 1800 census) bought land on Great Generostee in March 1804. Moor's Regiment, (now Anderson Co.) pp.95-122 p.94 Isaac Holden married Jane, a daughter of Ira B. Nicholson and Wm. Holden married married Martha Nicholson before 1851 That about does it for the Nicholsons. I hope that this is of some help to you. Cordelia
I do not have the information that you are asking for, but do have an file containing some very early Nicholsons and their desc. The file is in EXCEL format, and I will gladly send it to anyone who can open an Excel spreadsheet. It has several early william Nicholsons in it, including one that states he was a Rev. Soldier. This file is not all proven information. it is a holding file for research of an Edgefield Co. family researcher who has information on over 250 Edgefield Co families and their related lines, some of which came From other places, some stayed in Edgefield Co., others moved on. Remember, Anderson and Greenville area were once a part of the Old 96th Dist. which contained Edgefield as well. Note I deleted the list of information, as we are asked to do when we send replys instead of filling up the message with information repeated over and over. Wish everyone would do this. I get the same info. over and over again. Does anyone have the book, Traditions and History of Anderson County by Louise Ayer Vandiver? If so would you be willing to do a look-up? Also does anyone have Early Anderson County, S.C. Newspapers Marriages and Obituaries, 1841-1882 by Tom C. Wilkinson? Thanks, Beth
Please excuse me if you receive more than one copy of this message. Does anyone know if the Edward WADE on the 1810 Pendleton Dist SC census and the William WADE on the 1800 Abbevile Co SC census are the sons of David WADE who d. Sept. 3, 1802 in Pendleton Dist SC? The Edward WADE who was the son of David was b. bet. 1770-1774 and m. Lucy BURFORD, b. abt. 1783. Is this the same Edward WADE who appears on the 1800 and 1810 Pendleton Dist SC census? Is this the same Edward WADE who appears on the 1820 and 1824 Gwinnett Co GA census? The William Henry WADE who was the son of David was b. bet. 1784-1791. Is this the same William WADE who appears on the 1800 Abbeville Co SC census? Is this the same William WADE who appears on the 1820 and 1824 Hancock Co GA census? Any help with these questions would be very appreciated. Thanks, Eldon

I'd be interested to hear if you run across an Alexander Shields born around 1834 and living with his grandparents John and Mary Dorsey in Pickens County in 1850. His mother was Elizabeth Dorsey but I don't know who is father was. Would like to find out what happened to Alexander and locate descendants. I have this item for sale on Yahoo! Auctions, and thought that someone might be interested. It is a book about The John Pickens Family by Nellie Pickens Anderson. I paid $20 for it, so I thought I would start the bidding at $10. I have made some notes and underlining in the book, but it is still in good condition. I have another brick wall! Jabez Richey d. Feb., 1884 between Fair Play, SC and Lavonia, GA. He had lived in the Six and Twenty Community near Pendleton, SC and his wife, Frances Maddox Richey is buried at Six and Twenty Baptist Church. I am seeking the following information: Who are the parents of Jabez Richey? I am trying to connect him with those in Abbeville and also the ones in Rabon County, GA. Any ideas how I might find some proof of his death and place of burial? Thanks in advance for any information. I'm here! I'd like to know where Priscilla Hanks Smith is buried. She has children buried in Williamston and Greenville, SC and grandchildren buried in Anderson. 'Percilla' is found in Greenville 1850 Census and is listed as insane. Marion Smith Whiting SMITH, TOLLISON, ESKEW, KELLEY, JENNINGS, McCARTER

Here I am, in Alabama, and it is hot! But I am still hunting any and all CRANFIELD, CRANKFIELD, CRANFILL individuals. My line: Littleton Cranfield / Crankfield was born in 1775, believed to have been born in Fairfield District, but I have no verification of the place. We have no information on who his parents were. If anyone knows of any of the above names (in all caps) in OPD, I would be happy to hear from you. Arlene
