Cordelia, Are there any entries for George CLAWDIS (which we believe is a variation of CLOWDUS)? Thanks so much! Cathy
Are you Nicholson's being tied to OPD also connected to the Edgefield co, SC Nicholsons. If so, I have information on them. Please contact me idividually to get information as I cannot put it in an attachment to the list. tjones@camden.net The information connects to Wright Nicholson of Edgefield Co., SC and back to a William Nicholson of the 1600s. -----Original Message----- From: SnellHolem@aol.com <SnellHolem@aol.com> To: SC-OLD-PENDLETON-DIST-L@rootsweb.com <SC-OLD-PENDLETON-DIST-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Saturday, July 15, 2000 8:41 PM Subject: Re: [SC-OPD] STEWART Land with NICHOLSON >Hello Listers, > >For those of you inquiring about Nicholsons, I can offer you nothing more >than what appears in Wm. Cordelia, anything there for CALDWELL? Thanks, Judy
Searching for any record of Alexander Barron selling out in Pendleton County in 1805. His son,Alexander Barron,Jr. married Elizabeth Liddell in Pendelton
I am trying to locate the records (or any record of the marriage) of a Justice of Peace Shelton/Sheldon who performed the marriage ceremony of my Grandfather, Winfield Tillman Carroll and my Grandmother, Cora Louise Jaynes. They were married February 19, 1912. I only have her Bible record which has this bit of information, but she also included the names of their witnesses - "Hellers" who were my Grandfather's cousins. Not sure if they were married in Oconee/Anderson or Picken's County. Any help will be appreciated. Vivian cpvp@aol.com
Glad to oblige, Jim. Cordelia
Cordelia, Thanks so much! The puzzle is beginning to be more clear. Jim
Hi, Jim, One Whitner in the 1800 Pendleton census by Stewart Stewart page 56 Kilpatrick's Reg't (now Oconee) census page #27 household # 528 Joseph Whitner 30001 - 20100-07 With this notation following: Allen Robertson bought land 17 December 1810 adjacent to Whitner's farm. The Whitners were allied by marriage with the Kilpatricks and when John C. Kilpatrick, Jr. wrote his will 30 May 1840, he named Judge Joseph N. Whitner as executor. The family was in Union Co. SC in 1790 and previously in NC. Cheers, Cordelia
Cordelia Can you see if any WHITNER's are there? Thanks for your help. Jim Campbell

Stewart's Analysis of the 1800 Pendleton Census shows only two entries for Gambrill: In the Moor Regiment = Anderson County, page 40 of the census, page 96 of Stewart's pagination: #33 William Gambrill 10010- 10100-00 page 42 of census, Stewart's pagination 101 #133 William Gambrill 10100- 110010-00 Hope this helps. Yes, Cordelia, Our Duncan Campbell had properties in four Ga. Counties and heaven only knows how many here. He gave goods to the Indians, both the Creeks and the Chickesaws. I have had fun running him back and forth across the river. What I did find was there were a lot of sir names of residents of Abbeville Co. and Edgefield Co. and Old 96 District. that were present in Washington, Wilkes Co. GA. in the late 1700's. Washington was the largest town back then. over 2,600 people lived there in 1800. Haven't checked out residents that were from Pendelton. Hundley Evatt Campbell owned a hotel some where in either Pendleton or Central. If any one knows about this hotel I sure would love to find out which one he owned. Thanks, Judy
Could you please telll me if there are any records for Gambrell/Gambrel? I Know John Gambrell shows up in the 1790 census for OPD. I wondered if there was an earlier record for him? Also William or Henry Gambrell? Thanks in advance Muriel Gambrel
You are so right, Judy. They went back and forth frequently. In our days of SUV andA/C, I never cease to be amazed at the travels of these pioneers. Cordelia
Hello, I'm new to the list. But did want to relay the fact that there was a William, James and Steven Garrett living in Campbellton, Edgefield Co. SC. In the late 1700's. Just in case some one is looking up Garretts. I have no further information except the fact they were residents of this town. Most people of the town crossed over into GA. via Augusta. So don't leave out the possibility of looking in Ga. for information. Hello to Lee and Billie, I give you the following which is all that is in Wm. C. Stewart's Analysis of the 1800 Pendleton Co., SC census: Stewart's pagination: Kilpatrick's Regiment (Oconee) p. 38 "When John Stewart from Rockingham Co., NC leased his farm in Pendleton in 1814 to DANIEL GARRETT, adjoining land owners were William and Stephen Clayton and William Heath, all from the Stokes Co. families. p. 120 bottom and top of 121: Dickenson Garrett 20010-11010-00 In Pendleton District in 1790, the name is found in Jackson Co., GA in the 1805 Tax List on Mulberry Fork of Oconee River, where a large number of Pendleton settlers bought land. That is all he has on Garretts. Cheers, Cordelia
