I understand that it should have but it didn't. I even did a search on the desktop to see if it had made one and put it somewhere else, but it does not show up in the directory I set up or anywhere else. Thanks. I tried to download these files, followed the instructions exactly and it did not create a gedcom file. It created a file called OldPend.exe that looks like it is probably a combination of all the files but it isn't a gedcom file so when I try to import to FOW it doesn't show up as a file that can be used. Now what do I do? thanks. Keeping my fingers cross that someone can help me. Does anyone have a picture of the MACEDONIA BAPTIST CHURCH in Murray Co. Ga.before it was disbanded in the early1940's. Or does anyone know were I might get a picture of the church? And yes,I check with the Murray mailing list and had no luck finding one. Shirley (Pitts) Bennett 1_ou@prodigy.net

( then Abbeville, and Anderson Co.,) They were living near Williamston. My great -great grandfather was Alexander Moore, b.Jul. 1810, So. Car. and died after 1880 . He was listed in the 1880 census of Anderson Co., So. Car. He was married to Lucinda (unknown, maybe Sumner). His father was Thomas Moore, b. ca. 1778 inVirginia, and d. Nov. 1847. Do you think our Thomas Moore may be the same? I would give you more information if I had it, but unfortunately this is all I have on him . I have information on the descendants but can't seem to pull this family out of all the other Moore's. Would appreciate ANY help you or anyone on the list could give me. There are just so many Moore's it is hard to separate all of them. Thanks, Lee Campbell >> Dear Lee and Warene, I'm very interested in any additional information about this Thomas Moore. A Thomas Moore purchased 100 acres on 26 Mile Creek ca. 1814, from the heirs of the original grantee. He sold it right away to Edmund/Edward Moore (the deed is confused about his name), who in turn sold it to David Moore, my g4-grandfather, in 1816. The David Moore family lived there through through the 1830s. Many of the children and their respective families remained in the Anderson/Pickens/Oconee area for generations. I have never been able to determine the relationships between these early Moores. Patti in VA

Will I be able to download the >database from the CD into my FTM? Regrettably, if you use FTM (any version), the cd is the ONLY way you can access current versions of the database (since October 1999) unless you are using Win2000 or WinNT. FTM (Win95/98) cannot import a gedcom of this size, but CAN access a database prepared in Win2000. Prepared databases are included on the cd for FTM 5, 6 and 7 (includes 7.5) and for several other programs. Broderbund is well aware of their problem, but has not resolved it. Programs other than FTM can import the gedcom downloaded from http://www.geocities.com/BourbonStreet/Delta/8155/site1.html but the cd is provided for the convenience of those who'd prefer an inexpensive cd to undertaking a computer task of this proportion. The cd had its birth on this mailing list. It became apparent if Herman Geschwind's database were to continue to grow, a means had to be provided that it could be readily accessed. If you are using about any genealogy program other than FTM, and have good computer skills and a relatively modern computer, it is still quite workable to download the gedcom, reassemble it, then import it into your genealogy program. Many who are capable of doing so have elected to obtain the inexpensive cd and let us do the rather time-consuming chore for them.

Billy, There was a family of Clarks living in Old 96 part of Edgefield County in 1790 census. Two John Clarks, No middle init. or sr. or jr. Elizabeth, James, and Aaron. You may know of them but thought it maybe a lead for you. Since our family was there and moved in the early 1800's to Abbeville and Anderson. Due to Indian treaties and the availability of land. Billie, Who were your Jonathan Clarke and his wife Jane. I have a John B. Clarke born c1791 in SC and was in Anderson at least by 1833. I am responding to the information posted and listed below: Can you list a date for Jane Cunningham listed below? I have 3 different ones and if you can give me a date maybe I can tie her in. I have a few Cunningham members in York Cty., S.C., but most are in Macon Cty., N.C., and then on the Ga. Lucinda Thomas Schaefer I have a question, on this wilson family. William Wilson had land on Brushy Creek of the Saluda river drainage. In Pickens deed book C-1 p. 70-70 his heirs Andrew Wilson, Robert Wilson Wm Wilson Daniel Wilson Eddy Hamilton by right of wife Jane Cunningham Wilson Elizabeth Wilson widow of John Wilson were dividing the estate, and selling off the land. Was this William the son of John of Saluda or part of John of 26 mile Creek's family? Deborah Byrd
There will be a revision of the Old Pendleton District SC Database cd in September. All open requests will be filled at that time. This is a project of the OPD Chapter of the SCGS. Additions are made continually. Downloads are updated monthly. The cd is currently revised about twice a year, dependent upon demand. OPD consisted of the three westernmost counties of SC, so was adjacent to a dozen modern SC, NC and GA counties. Map of the surrounding area showing modern counties in all 3 states: http://jrshelby.com/opdcd/opd.jpg For an excellent map of the district when it *was* a district see the SCROOTS 1820 Mills Atlas map at http://scroots.org/1825pendleton2.html or for a larger, clearer but slower loading version: http://scroots.org/1825pendleton3.html As of August, the database contained 275,000 names (ancestors, residents, descendents) and 93,000 marriages, and almost all of these are cousins somehow. For more info about the downloadable database, OPDC/SCGS, and the cd, see http://jrshelby.com/opdcd/ Note: this is a new address.

Whitaker (1823-1906), had a second wife whose maiden name I don't know. She's listed as Mary on the 1900 census -- they married after 1880 -- and as "Mrs. Campbell" in the Vandiver book about Anderson county. They are listed on the 1900 census as living with a 10-year-old granddaughter of hers. David is buried at Center Church in Oconee Co., next to one of his daughters and her Pickens husband. (No known relationship to the General.) His first wife, my gggrandmother, died sometime before 1894. (The date on her tombstone is August 31, 1893, but that has got to be incorrect.) I assume that, because David is buried with this daughter and her husband, that he moved to Oconee Co. (from Anderson Co.) because they were already there or had moved there, and that he met "Mrs. Campbell" after moving. There are several Campbell graves in Center Church's cemetery, and I am inclined to believe that "Mrs. Campbell" is buried with her first husband there -- but I don't know Mr. Campbell's first name. (I don't have her date of death either.) Center Church, which is no longer active, is on SC24, between Oakway and Tokeena Crossroads. Elizabeth Whitaker evw2@bellsouth.net
