    1. [SC-OPD] Willis Stancil
    2. Dianne, I think I may have sent you this before, but I hve Willis Stancil on a list of members of Antioch Baptist Church (1857-1889). The church is in Pickens Co on Hwy 11 not too far from Hwy 178. The list only shows the names that the person was resesarching. Gant's, Chappell, Dodgen and Stancil. The other Stancil's on the list are: Jesse, Hamilton, Ibby, Reany, Anna, Mary, and Sarah A. Perhaps one of the Universities has the records for this church and you may find more info about him there. My ggg-aunt, Zelia Ann Gantt (dau of Martin Gantt and Sarah Thomasson) married a William Stancil prob in Pickens Co. They had one son, William Lee Stancil b.16 Jan 1869-Pickens Co, SC, mar Julia Washington Lewis; d. 29 Nov 1965-Little Rock, Pulaski, AR; bur Pinecrest Cemetery, Collegeville, AR (this may be in Pulaski Co, AR.) There isan interview with Lee when he was 96 years old in the book and he says that his father died in a hunting accident not long after he was born. It also lists his children, but no dates for them. This information comes from a book, "Pleasant Grove Families (Saline County, Arkansas) Recollections of A Church, A Cemetery, A Community of the Past" by Carolyn Earle Billingsley. Carolyn is a 3rd cousin of mine on the Gantt line. There is quite a bit of information on the Martin Gantt family who migrated to Saline Co, AR and the Dodgen and Chappell family. Terrissa Gantt was married to Joseph Chappell-parents of William Martin "Fiddler Bill" Chappell. Patricia A. Cantrell Columbus, GA PACA1509@aol.com pacant1104@hotmail.com

    3. Since Mr. Donald Tucker was kind enough to look on the 1850 census and find info about my gggrandfather(I think), Does anyone have any info for Wm. Willis Stansell or E.H.(Edward Haralston) Stansell or any one on the following message?? Thanks, Dianne Stancil Brown brownentp@alltel.net Dianne, It is my impression that E.H. Stansell was the son of William "Willis"Stansell who was family #711 in the !850 census of Pickens Co. At that time he was called Harleston, b. 1836. William appears to have a second younger wife Mary not old enough to be mother of Harleston and the other older children. Willis was born about 1810 and died before 1900. It is possible that Harleston was in Henderson Co. in 1860 since many of the families in the "mountains" moved back and forth across the border. Don

    2. William D Don Kay
    3. Mastin Riley Wilson married Elizabeth Nancy Kay in 1851. During the Civil War he enlisted in the 20th SC Regiment. He was sent home to Anderson District (probably near Barkers Creek) on sick furlough, and died there on 15 Aug 1863. His wife, Nancy E. Wilson, made a claim on 1 Sep 1863. Did Nancy marry another Wilson and have more children in the 1870s?

    2. K. McGee
    3. Since there has been comment about Whites; and since I have a problem with some materials shared with me by Dan Jones, a "cousin," I wonder if there might not be a solution here on the group for Dan and I, or if this might not be a missing piece for someone researching the WHITEs. I have the copies of the material online and hopefully it's readable for everyone. I have included a transcription of sorts at the bottom of each page. Though this paper is from Forsyth County GA in 1846, the Hopes associated with the material: Isaac and James are from this area of SC. Their connection is also to the Mullinax of SC. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~cousins/album/docs_hopemlnx1.html actual documents start here: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~cousins/album/docs_hopemlnx2.html Dan and I would really appreciate you comments of the subject. We'd love to know who Katherine is, as well as her children. Thanks much, Kay McGee ~~~~ Genealogy: http://home.earthlink.net/~kmcgee03/ http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~cousins
