    1. [SC-OPD] Edward Vandiver 1748 MD-1837 SC
    2. ctucker
    3. Edward Vandiver, a Rev. War patriot who received a pension, was born in 1748 in Maryland; died 1837 near Neals Creek in the Anderson, SC, area. This is according to an old South Carolina newspaper article. See THE VANDIVER FAMILY, An Account of Two Pioneer Settlers of Upper Carolina Prior to the Revolutionary War. April 13, 1900. _....elligencer_, [title of newspaper cut off ]Volume XXXV---NO. 51. Perhaps someone can assist with the name of this South Carolina newspaper. A front page column entitled STATE NEWS refers to "...48 enumerators now at work in South Carolina." Thought *that* was interesting as well as helpful in identifying the location of this newspaper. I am not a Vandiver researcher, but I do have the above in my files : ) ... ... and also this: Rev. S. Vandiver married Mr. Thomas M. Vandiver to Miss Sarah, daughter of Stephen Liverett, both of Anderson District - January 5, 1838. Stephen is my direct maternal Leverett ancestor. 2. There is a six volume book called The Burriss Family. IT was done by some descendants in Anderson County,SC. Both the Anderson County Library and the Greenville County library have copies of these. They are also in the State Archives in Columbia, SC. I will go to the Greenville County Library and use the Burriss books for lookups for those of you who do not have access to them. Sonia Rogers Greenville,SC

    2. I'm sorry, but at this time I don't have any names of the brothers of John, or know if he even had any brothers. Nor do I know the name of his parents at this time. John had nine son's, one by the name of Richard, and they came to S.C. If I find out anything more I will send it your way; so please do the same for me. Good Luck Beverly

You see I am hung up on the Thompson's also, I am trying to find out who the parents are of Lydia Thompson who married James Neal and her brother Ransome Thompson who apparently never married. He is buried at Mt. Bethel in Pickens County,S.C. and his sister is buried at Fairview Methodist Church in Oconee County, S.C. Have you heard of these people? Could they be from one of the brothers?
