Cliff, Many families came to Pendleton District along with Ben Cleveland and many of these got land Grants in Franklin Co. GA which at that time was all SC lands West of the Seneca/Keowee River too. many of those names you listed settled right there in Franklin Co. Ben Cleveland and many families had land on both sides of the Tugaloo River too. After the Beaufort Treaty, the land between Tugaloo and Seneca rivers was given back to SC. I'm researching the Little family who was listed in Capt. William Perkins' District in the 1790 Pendleton District census. I've found that a significant number of residents (inc. the Littles) may have come from the area of Wilkes Co NC and Surry County NC. One famous Wilkes/Surry Co resident who moved to Capt Perkins' Dist was Col. Benjamin Cleveland who led 350 militiamen from Wilkes and Surry Counties at the battle of King's Mountain in 1780. It's possible that some of these militiamen followed Col. Cleveland to Pendleton Dist after the Revolutionary War. I wonder if anyone else has found Pendleton District residents who may have come from the Wilkes/Surry Co area of NC? Following is a list of residents in Capt. Burgess Reeves was from VA... He settled in La France area near Clemson. He had brothers that also came ... Two that I know are Malachi and Benjamin. They did not settle in this area. He and Frances Mauldin had many children. I believe that the Spearmans descend from this bunch .... I don't know the many descendents. There is a Reeves book that I believe Mrs. Padget( related to Spearmans.) contributed to. It use to be in library in Anderson. It is very large and goes back to the 1400s. I believe that George is related but quite far back. His ancestor and Burgess more than likely. Also in my heritae of chambers county, al book in index it states Hays on pages 239 and 240 but it's in relation ship with other families. Thanks anyway, Barb. George REEVES was first found in NC....Halifax Co. area He was in Washington Co., NC (now TN) at the time of the Rev. He was in the Pendleton Dist. of SC from about 1786 to 1794 From there he & family went to Davidson Co., TN where he and wife died Other sons were Thomas, Jordan, and Burell (?) The REEVES had connections to both Elisha and Jesse GARLAND (brothers) If you should come across any of these names, I would appreciate the tip. Susan - No I don't have these....I really am scratching the bottom of the barrel now...My GGF was HIRAM REEVES m: EMMALINE (sp) YOUNGBLOOD, had two children, WILLIAM JACKSON & SARAH ANN....obviously, she died in childbirth and he married LYDIA POWELL, daughter of HARRISON POWELL of Suggar Likker Road (right next to his home)....she was a mid-wife and we assume she came to deliver and never left...because shortly after Hiram and Lydia had their first child, a daughter, LAURA....and several more thereafter. If, in looking in the newspapers there, you will look at the name ASA REEVES, you will see the son of HIRAM and LYDIA was killed and there was a trial, etc. with much attention at the time....don't have my file in front of me; but, it was around 1900.... My GF was WILLIAM JACKSON REAVES (spelled with an 'a'...they changed all the time back then because they couldn't write)....anyway, he married EMMA DURHAM daugher of SAMUEL DURHAM.....Samuel's wife was a GUTHRIE.... Barb, I am trying to find who put the info on the OPD database. They have your Lewis Eaton mixed up with the younger one who married Mary Ann Abbott. My Lewis died in Oconee Co. in 1886. Yours died in Indiana. I think that mind could be the son of yours but have not proof to that. I just know that the one in the OPD database is not right. The 1860 census you referenced was my Eatons.
