    3. Also look for the spelling HONEA. I have an Abel HONEA, Sr., b OPD c 1785, married a Jemima, and had a son Abel HONEA, Jr. (1810 OPD-1893 Dawson County, GA), who migrated across north Georgia to the Dawson, Pickens, Cherokee, Gilmer, Lumpkin Counties area with a group of families including DENSMORE, FARRIBA, GOSS, GRAVITT, GREEN/GREENE, GROGAN, HARBEN/HARBIN, TURNER, and others. Abel Honea, Jr., m Nancy Ann FARRIBA (1815 OPD-1898 Dawson County, GA) cir 1836 in Habersham County, GA (where many of those families settled before the northwest Georgia area opened up with the 1832 GA Land Lottery. Habersham and Rabun Counties adjoin.) Abel and Nancy had six known children, 3 girls and 3 boys: Emily Frances (1837-1908), Jane (1838-1918), Robert (c 1842-?), William Washington (1845-1907), Celia Joanne "Cely" (1851-1928), and James Talmage HONEA (1852-1918). Many of their descendants still live in the Dawson, Pickens, Cherokee, Gilmer, Lumpkin Counties area today, and other descendants migrated to Alabama and Tennessee. Abel, Jr., and Nancy Ann (Farriba) HONEA eventually settled in Dawson County, GA, were members of Pleasant Union Baptist Church and were buried in the church cemetery. I am still looking for the parents of Abel HONEA/HONEY, Sr. Any assistance will be appreciated. Diane Carrington Bradford Atlanta, GA -----Original Message----- From: David S. 2. Wilma C. Kirkland
    3. Kim, Thanks - I have just never had time to work on the Nichols. Mama has Ambrose on my chart as father of Archibald. In just glancing at this, seems John Nichols and Mary Owen would have been 9 and 10 years old when their first child was born. If they didn't marry until she was 24, then seems some of the older children are illegits. I have just glanced at this, though, and may be reading it the wrong way. I see this Ambrose d. in Hall Co., Ga. while I was under the impression mine died in Anderson. I have read in some books about some heirs of Ambrose selling land in Anderson Co., but have never seen the real thing. This could have said from Hall Co., Ga. for all I know, but what I read did not. I have not looked yet to see if Ambrose has an estate in Anderson Co. I'm in a stew right now - my son from Oxford, NC & family of 5 are due in tomorrow night and will go back Thursday. I am having to have two Christmases this year. Their just turned 17 year old son has finished high school early so he could join the Marines and since this is all he has ever wanted to do, they signed for him. He is leaving the 12th of Jan for boot camp, so he wanted to tell come down and tell us all bye. He will be at Paris Island, SC but he can't see anyone for 3 months when he then graduates. I will go over this site either after they leave, or maybe even tonight, to read it more thoroughly and study it. Thanks for sending this. 1. [SC-OPD] A Pearson Line and Evan Pearson and Moses Pearson
    2. James Pearson
    3. Members of my PEARSON line have in the 19th Century resided for a time in one or more of the following counties: Oconee, Pickens, Newberry, Spartanburg, Greenville and Old Pendleton District in SC; Macon, Jackson and Transylvania in NC, as well as many counties in north Georgia. I have traced this Pearson family as far back as my gg grandfather, Evan Pearson, (c1795-c1854); my g grandfather, Phillip Marion Pearson, (1832-1921); my grandfather, Walter Augustus Pearson, (1860-1954); my father, Denzil Poynor Pearson, (1888-1967); and myself, James A. Pearson, (1931-). Evan Pearson remains an enigma for me. He was a Baptist preacher, an evangelist, frequently away from home long periods of time on circuit rides of local Baptist churches across north Georgia. He owned a small farm, had a sickly wife who died c1834, four children, four slaves and he made frequent investments in unimproved real property. The 1850 Census in Gordon County, GA says Evan is 55, born in GA, no wife shown, but 4 children: Rebecca, age 26 (c1824); Elizabeth, 20 (c1830); Albert 20 (c1830) and Phillip Marion 19 (1832) my g grandfather. Evan PEARSON died c1854. DOD and cemetery unknown. The 3 other children are not found again after 1850 Census. I know very little about Moses Pearson (c1796-unk). He was in the 1820 Habersham County Federal Census with a wife. He was in the 1830 Census, same county, with a wife & 2 children. Evan & Moses were living close to each other, although no relationship has yet been established. The first child of Moses, a boy, born c1825, was named Evan. Does any of this ring a bell? Any comments and/or suggestions welcome. . Jim Pearson [email protected] Jim Pearson [email protected]

    3. I'd like to thank everyone for their replies to my posting on Capt. William Perkin's District. Every little bit helps in the search. I've also found a few more names that turn up in both William Perkins' District and in the Wilkes Co NC area. As David Payne points out, a few of these names also show up in Wilkes Co (and Franklin Co), GA. There are excellent on-line resources on Wilkes Co NC and other area counties along the New River at http://www.ls.net/~newriver/nrv.htm The New River History List at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ncnr/ also has some lively discussion of people in the New River area. I don't know how widespread migration was from the New River area, but it did make a significant contribution to the makeup of Pendleton Co.
