    2. Hi Mildred, I'm also researching the same area to find my gr gr gr grandfather Nicholas Briskey/Brisky and his wife Elizabeth Mark/Merck. 1789. In my researching I had found out many families seemed to migrate together around 1830's many first to GA around troup and harris counties, and their decendents or they moved onto Chambers County, AL or surrounding areas. Many counties and state lines changed during this time. In my copy of the heritage of chambers county, al book by Heritage Publishing in the index is listed Mayfield on three pages 37,62,295 Page 37 is connected with the churchs in the area. James Mayfield (1850-1853) Mount Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church Submitted by decendents of the families is listed. If you email me seperately I can give you more information if you mention page 37. page 62 looks like connection with marriage into the Alsobrook family. Page 295 is two families listed Wheeler-Hammack Family and Whitlow Family. You maybe able to obtain a copy to look at through your inner library loan dept at your local library. And I have found decendents of families for many from SC in this book. So it might be worth a shot. Inner library is usually a free service. Good Luck Sandel [email protected] Seattle Surnames; Briskey,brisky,brisque,Demastus,Sutton,Meadows,Hodnett,Moore,McIntosh,Leverett,Mark/Merck (States, SC, GA, Chambers County,AL, Washington State, TX, and france) willing to share and trade info

    2. Here is one to add to your list. They are probably decendents of your line somewhere. I have a copy of the heritage of chambers county, alabama book by heritage publishing and most of these families seemed to migrate together from SC to GA and then to Chambers County and surrounding areas. You can probably obtain a copy to look at through inner library loan dept at your local library. On page 270 Stewart/Hood/Swan/Newton/Westbrook Connections They all seemed to have large families back then. 2. Would you please look and see if you have any marriages for Jenkins and McBryde My husbands gggrandfather was William Lewis Jenkins, MD, who practiced in the area. The house he lived in is still there. Thomas Livinston McBryde's daughter Sarah Boone McBryde married William Gaillard Jenkins son of William Lewis Jenkins. McBryde, was a minister and preached in the Old Pendleton Church out by the Cemetery where he and his wife are buried. Thanks Bettie

    2. I keep hitting brick walls also in death records. I think so many we're just kept in family bibles. Also I do know my gr gr gr grandfather Nicholas Briskey/Brisky and his wife Elizabeth Mark/Merck we're married in May of 1789 in charles town (Now Charleston). So many could have been married there also. Also worth a try. 3. If you would be so kind: I have no record of my GGM except on GF's death certificate. Her name: Emeline (sp) Youngblood Reeves (or Reaves). Her spouse: Hiram Reeves (or Reaves) b: approx 1825; d: Oct 28, 1886. His father, Asa (many spellings: Asel, Asahal, etc) b: between 1794-1802; d: April 30, 1881. Asa's spouse was named CLARINDA. This info came from census...no record of her name, birth or death. I keep hoping. Asa & Clarinda's children: Hiram, Rebecca, Nancy, David, William, Jane, John H. Asahel (killed in Civil war in Va. 1862), Latharinda, Adline and Rosa A. (all from census). Hiram's children with Emeline Youngblood: Sarah Ann (b: 1863); William Jackson (my GF) b: 1866. I assume his mother, Emeline Y'blood, died in childbirth as Hiram has a child 2 yrs later with Lydia Powell (daughter of Harrison Powell). They had Laura, John H., Acy, Dock, Rene, & Harvey Richard. If any show up, I'd be grateful for your help.
