    1. Re: [SC-OPD] Harvey Kelly
    2. Anne Doggett
    3. Wilma, I have been working just as long on the Kelleys/Kelly. My Kelley is Milly and she married Pleasant Sullivan. I think Elisha may have been connected to her. James Kelley lives the closest to Pleasant in the 1790 census. Milly and Pleasant marry in 1796. They name their first son Kelly and their second Son Nimrod. Now there is a Nimrod in Clemson in 1790 but I can't find Milly in his household and I think he is too young. I think he is a brother.,. I think Millys mother maybe Sarah. She is connected to Rueben and to Nelson and to a William who marrys Martha Garrett. (See Edward Garretts will). I think Elisha comes through Rutherfordton. Check out Henry there and the Whitesides. The one group you can cancel is Gershon's crowd. Hope this helps. Anne ----- Original Message ----- From: "Wilma C. 2. Wilma C. Kirkland
    3. Beverly, There was a Samuel C. Kelly that was s/o an Andrew Kelly whose est. was administered 1 Mar 1858, but I do not see a Samuel S. in Pickens Co., SC. This is not to say that Samuel S. was not from the OPD area, but there were many Kellys in SC. My grandmother was Mary Alice Kelly, her father was John Joseph Kelly b. 1849 (some folks call him John Jefferson, but his own daughters called him John Joseph, so that is what I call him), John's father was Harvey Kelly, b. in 1823, Harvey's father was Elisha Kelly born 1790 and his father supposedly was William Kelly. Right now I don't know of a Samuel in my family because I don't know the above Andrew. Good luck. 3. I would be interested in Harvey Kelly's line. I am searching for Samuel S. Kelly's parents. He was b. 1826 SC and married Eliza A. Hawkins (b. 1826 SC) in Calhoun Co., AL 1850. Any help out there would be appreciated. 3. Dear Mary, The below site has a lot on Joshua Teague. It deals with the site that has been discussed in NC that has information on the regulators hanged at Alamance. http://members.tripod.com/~jack0204/gen/teague/joshua_teague.html<http://members.tripod.com/~jack0204/gen/teague/joshua_teague.html> What I have is mainly connected with his daughter Susanna Teague that married Epps Major. SC Archives site has land deeds for Joshua Teague and will of Joshua Teague. Will mentions Susanna Maser (Major). Other information in SC Archives shows Susanna Maser in Pickens Co., SC next to David Hendricks in 1820-30s. I have some other details of Epps Major and Susanna Teague Major. God Bless. 2. Hello, I've been trying to find military records on my gr gr gr grandfather and his brother. Nicholas Briskey/Brisky and his brother Charles. They we're french officers when they came to fight, but then decided to stay and joined the American Army and fought for seven years. Their name in France was either Brisque/Briscoe. Earliest I have record of him was marriage to Susan Elizabeth Mark/Merck. May 1789 in Charleston. Then Charles Town. But I keep hitting famous brick walls when it comes to military records. Any help would be greatfully appreciated. 3. The following is a great site on the regulators. I believe I have a family connection to James Few. He was executed on the field of battle at Alamance by Gov Tryon personally without trial. His family land was confiscated. The remainer of his large extended family left for SC. They remained in "Old 96" throughout the Rev War. When GA in 1784 offered land to ALL soldiers of the Rev War extensive lands regardless of what state they enlisted in , The Fews left for GA. I have to advise all of you to consider this travel pattern. Many of the men ( most unnamed) who were NC Regulators went to SC and then GA. They were wiped out in NC by Tryon and did not have the $$ to buy new lands in SC...thus GA looked good. GA has a growing database available in various libraries. I am not sure of when the plaque was erected, but research was apparently not available to identify all of the men. The names mentioned are Matear, Messer, Pugh, Merrill and two unidentifyed men were hung at this site, etc. I did discover a Moravian library housed at Winston-Salem on the grounds of the old Salem village. On the two times I visited, the library was closed. They were doing renovations and building a new library. The librarian informed me that there were several diaries kept in the community of Bethania at the time of the executions and all were available to be viewed by the general public. However, I know of no one who has taken the time to review these manuscripts to see if anything could be added to embellish this story. I have not seen a list of those men who were actually killed in the battle itself. If anyone ever has the opportunity to view the Moravian records themselves, at great deal may become more clear. I would like to delve more into Herman Husbands to see what his part in the Regulator movement was, and how this movement spread through two states - NC and SC. As far as my ancestor, Captain Messer, his family did disappear from 1771 until Christian Messer is mentioned in the diaries in 1782. The visiting minister made a note in his diary that he was asked to baptize the children of William Wingfield and Christian messer, the place being in the same county as Bethania. The minister's notes stated the service was held in German and the families were familiar with German but were outside of the commune. Wingfield married Christian's sister, Mary, and they are my ancestors. The Wingfields remove to Warren Co. Kty by 1800, while Christian relocates in Haywood Co. NC by 1790. 3. There is much information about Herman HUSBAND on Rootsweb. And you probably can find more by doing a google search. After he left NC he was involved with the WHISKEY REBELLION. One of his wives, the first I think, was Mary PUGH. I think she was the sister of JAMES PUGH who was probably hung at Alamance also. The reason I say probably, is a note which mentions an 1810 will that mentions his children. I would appreciate any information about the PUGH family. Where did the children of James PUGH go? What are their names. and the name of his wife ? There might be some notes that he had 6 or 8 children and they were forced along with his wife to watch the execution. I don't have my information at hand so might not be completely accurate. There should also be information on the NC Genweb site.
