    3. For the past several years I have been attempting to determine the descendants of Jennings NIX of Pickens , South Carolina and then Blount County, Alabama. But for the past couple of months I have been involved in the analysis of a single page in the 1840 Federal Census for Pickens South Carolina. I have found that I am kin of at least half of the families on this page, and three families on the previous page. But the ones that intrigued me the most, and the ones that I am having the most difficulty in identifying are those named NIX. They are in general the age of my Jennings and I belive that they may add to my knowledge of Jennings ancestors. They are: William B. NIX, Berry NIX, and Isaac NIX. I belive that William B. is William Baker Nix b. abt 1790 and his wife Rebecca MURPHDREE, my 1C5R. I have also found a note in my files from Patricia Cantrell indicating that she is their G(3)Grarndduaghter. But my note does not have her e-mail address. I am interested in hearing from anyone with knowledge about any one on this page, and particularly in making contact with Particia Cantrell. -- Dalton J. 2. Hello, I'm also researching the area of SC. And in my researching I had found that many families migrated it seemed together around 1830's land grants and lotteries became popular. I have a copy of the Heritage of Chambers County,AL book by Heritage Publishing Co which you might try getting through your local library inner library loan dept. In the index taylor is hudge pages marriages etc. And many families migrated from SC area to GA and then many decendents to Chambers County,AL and surrounding areas. My well be worth a look at. 1. Moved the Town of Pickens
    2. Dolores Pringle
    3. When the OPD was split into Anderson Dist. and Pickens Dist., the town of Pickens was nearer to the current location of the Duke Power Plant. This gave it a more central location in order to serve both current-day Pickens Co. and Oconee Co., SC. Later Pickens Dist. was split into the two counties of Pickens Co., and Oconee Co., so the town of Pickens was moved to make it more centrally located to the current Pickens Co., SC. I have the dates that all this happened should you need them - somewhere, but I will be glad to dig them out should you want them. Hope this helps! 3. Thanks, Sandel - I don't think Moses Hendricks would be in the books unless he were leading a double life, which I accuse him of sometimes. He supposedly stayed in SC. He started out with wife Susanna and died with Susanna still his wife. He is a puzzle for many people and has been for over 50 years. There is just no hint or clue from where he came. Sometimes I think he had a name change. I keep hoping someone will light a fire under the Hendricks men & get them started in a DNA search. Wilma K. 2. Hello, I'm also researching in SC and in my researching I found that many families seemed to migrate together around 1830's. Many to first GA for land grants and land lotties became available. And then many families or decendents went from there to Chambers County,AL and surrounding areas. I have a book great little info in it. And have found many decendents for the lines from Abbeville and SC. Some NC also. There are Hendricks and Hendrick in a book I have called heritage of Chambers County,AL by Heritage Publishing Company. Might be worth your while to make a trip to your local library and see if they can get you a copy to look at through the inner library loan dept. I find it invaluable tool. Also there is an 1832 GA land grant book. It has 100's of names of early settlers to GA. Gives info in some cases also worth checking at your library. And a book called "Reason for the Tears' By Bobby Lindsay a most popular book hard to get. usually through your library loan dept. But well worth reading. Good luck. 3. Let me put my 2 cents in on Mr. Andrea's work. I have so appreciated his research on the McClendon/McLendon line. His research was a good tool for my research. 3. Herb, You mentioned Moses and Susannah Hendricks and hinted at the verbal history that says she was a Glen. Most of us gave up that thought years ago and we look for a Susanna being a dau. of anyone that might name a Susanna Hendricks in their will, or estate papers in SC, NC, Va., etc. However, no one can cover all the records in a lifetime, so we just work, watch & wait. Most times family tradition is partly true, so perhaps her mother was a Glen. We can't determine Moses' father yet, either, as he did not associate with any other Hendricks so we can place him in a group already known. We look for others that might have raised him if he were an orphan. So again we wait and go to other names we need to work on. The same is true for Esley Hunt & his wife Nancy who was supposed to be Nancy Lacy. This is family tradition, but yet we do look at every Nancy Lacy or Nancy Hunt we run across. Sometimes records have been destroyed, so what is one to do? We just have to keep working, watching & waiting. I don't think anyone should put names on a chart without at least a question mark, as it misleading to other people and it should never be given or written down as the truth. I also agree with you about Andrea's work. Part true, part untrue. The poor fellow never knew his work was going to be published and rented out by his sister Connie. She used to teach me, but I did not know then she was his sister, as I had never heard of Andrea. I have even rented his files from her. Everything does have to be proven, though, on anything he or others say. But one does get a good overview of where the records are and who is there, which helps us a lot and their availability is good for everyone at the LDS Libraries.
