    1. [SC] Late 18th Century Guardianship Records

    3. Hello list, I am interested in learning about what types of records are available in SC in guardianship situations. I have a good lead that an ancestor was sent to live with relatives from SC to GA between 1797 and 1810. I don't know if any legal transfer of guardianship would have been required or whether it would have been in SC or GA. So, here are my specific questions. What counties have guardianship records from that time period? Were other records created that might have the same type of information? As a resident of Atlanta, GA, what would be the best way to access any available records? Thanks for any help. I'll be glad to answer any clarification questions you might have. 3. This interests me very much also. I have a child born in 1806 (Mason Lang Mosley), who's mother re-married in 1808 (to John Scogin) around Edgefield/Barnwell I believe and his step-father is referred to as "his guardian" yet I have been unable to find any records. They did move to Ala about 1818, but I doubt that he would have waited so long to become his guardian. Any help appreciated.
