    1. [SC] SC land grants for Revolutionary War or War of 1812 service

    3. I have a Stephen Cumbo from Edgefield Dist, SC who served under Col. Samuel Hammond in SC in the Revolutionary War. He eventually is granted a pension (in 1827) by the state for this service. I have been told that Stephen Cumbo appears on the Winton tax lists about 1887. What is the best way to learn if Stephen Cumbo receives a land grant for his war service? I have a record for Stephen Cunboo who served in Rowe's Regiment in SC in the War of 1812. I suspect this name should be Cumbo not Cunboo. I'm not certain if these Stephen's are the same man or not. However, Stephen Cumbo receives a land grant about 1819. How do I learn whether this grant is for service in either the Revolutionary War or the War of 1812? Regards, Dana Haggard
