Hail to all PETTYPOOL/POOL/P'POOL researcers. These families were from VA to SC. I am surprised no one on the SC Lists haven't mentioned them before. It has been common knowledge many were from Greenville, SC...probably after counties split. My quest is to find out whether we are POOL or PETTYPOOL. A record like the one I posted for William P'POOL suggests we could be P'POOL, but as long as I've studied the PETTYPOOL family, something like 30 years, I find no document that shows our John POOL to be this variant name. Christopher RHODES married Sarah PETTYPOOL (think Sarah), but his brother, Thomas RHODES is said to have married our Lucinda POOL, d/o William POOL and Elizabeth JONES, d/o Gabriel JONES & El;izabeth _________ (of Laurens, SC), granddaugther of John POOL & Mahulda HOLLOWAY. Benjamin RHODES, cousin of Christopher RHODES, married Temperance POOL, d/o John POOL & Mahulda HOLLOWAY of Edgefield, SC. Any serious researcher of the PETTYPOOL family can see why I was interested in the William P'POOL record with Christopher RHODES on same. One of the PETTYPOOL's married a Martha BOSWELL, and I think another Martha was a RAGSDALE.
