I descend from the INGRAMs of "Craven Co," who migrated to Virginia ca. 1765, buying land in Augusta Co. in 1767. Augusta subdivided, and Alexander wrote his will in Botetourt Co., 5 Dec 1780. Another subdivision occurred, and the land Alexander bought in Augusta is now in Roanoke Co., VA. The small stream that runs through the land on which he lived he named Cravens Creek. He left land there to his wife and two of his children. But, he also left to his son Wm. "One hundred and fifty Acres of Land on the south fork of Lynches Creek in Craven County" and to his "Son James two hundred Acres on Lynches Creek bounded on Moses and William Ingrams land." Also, "one hundred acres to my daughter Mary on Hanging Rock Creek." I am trying to link Alexander with his parents, siblings, or other roots. Are Moses and William, whose lands "bounded" with James' inherited acreage, his relatives, and if so, of what relationship? Was Alexander born in SC, or did he emigrate there from elsewhere? I descend through Alexander's son James (b. ca 1760); James' son Alexander (b. Dec 09, 1778), Alexander's dau. Jane (b. Feb. 03, 1811); Jane's son Alexander Jennings THOMPSON (b. Nov 23, 1832); Alexander's dau. Martha Ann (b. Oct. 03, 1858); Martha Ann's dau. Lillie Alberta RAKES (b. Sept. 30, 1878) my grandmother. Would love to hear from my Carolina cousins or their descendants, but any help is appreciated. It is possible your family belongs to the INGRAMS of Brunswick Co, VA where the name Moses is seen. No Alexander, but he could be named for the mother's family.
